In accordance with at least one aspect of this disclosure, a pump comprises a pump rotor having a plurality of vanes therein configured to pump a fluid from a pump inlet to a pump outlet through rotation of the rotor about a rotational axis, an input shaft operatively connected to drive rotation of the rotor, and a bearing operatively connected to the input shaft configured to facilitate rotation of the input shaft. A shaft extender is operatively connected radially between the input shaft and the bearing. The input shaft includes a conical portion and the shaft extender includes a conical portion complementary to the conical portion of the input shaft. The shaft extender interfaces with at least the conical portion of the input shaft, when on the input shaft.

Bearing arrangement for pumps

A gear pump bearing can include a body sized and shaped to occupy a portion of a pump housing cavity such that a clearance is formed between the body and a pump housing. The gear pump bearing can also include at least one clearance consuming feature extending from an outer surface of the body configured to reduce motion of the body within the pump housing cavity.

Gear pump bearings

A bearing assembly for a gear pump that includes a bearing housing, a bearing, and a biasing member. The bearing housing has a housing bore that extends between a first housing end and a second housing end along a bearing axis. The bearing is disposed within the housing bore. The bearing has an outer diameter extending between a first bearing end and a second bearing end. The biasing member is disposed between the bearing and the bearing housing to apply a biasing load to the bearing.

High efficiency gear pump bearing assembly

A bearing for a gear pump includes a bearing body defining a bearing bore defined therethrough along an axis for receiving a gear shaft. The bearing bore defines a cylindrical bearing inner diameter surface. The bearing body defines an outer mating surface configured for mounting to another bearing body. A groove is defined in the inner diameter surface along an axial direction relative to the axis to provide clearance for gear journal motion between the inner diameter surface and the gear shaft. The groove is defined in a portion of the inner diameter surface opposite the mating surface.

Fuel pump bearing with non-concentric inner diameters

A bearing structure for abutting a pair of gears of a gear pump includes a body including a face on which the gears rotate, an inlet defined in the body, and an outlet defined in the body. The bearing structure includes a sealing portion of the face configured to fluidly seal the inlet from the outlet, the sealing portion being defined as a portion of the face in sealing engagement with the gears at a rotational position of the gears wherein a volume contained by teeth of the gears and the face is constant or about constant as the gears rotate.

An impeller spinner for a fuel pump can include a head and a shank. The head can have a base at one end and a tip at an opposite end. The shank can have a body portion nearest the head with a first diameter and a fastener portion adjacent to the body portion at an end opposite the head with a second diameter.

Anti-icing impeller spinner

A vane pump is disclosed that includes a plurality of vanes and radial slots configured to provide a gap between the vane and the radial slot such that the vane has a different angular position relative to the direction of rotation in a radially extended position compared to an angular position in a radially-retracted position. The different angular positions provide different orientation of the arcuate surface of the vane tip portion with respect to the cam body inner surface, thus providing different fluid stop points on the vane tip portion arcuate surface.

Vane pump

A gear pump has a pair of meshed gears for rotating within a gear pump chamber, and a motor driving at least one of the gears. A discharge line passes fluid downstream from the gear pump chamber, and a suction line delivers fluid into the gear pump chamber. A bypass valve communicates with the discharge line. A shutoff valve communicates with the discharge line. The bypass valve opens at a lower pressure than the shutoff valve. A bypass line communicating the discharge line to the suction line when the bypass valve is open. The gear pump is configured to compress air. In addition, a gear pump arrangement that can be mounted in either of two attitudes is described, as is a method of operating a gear pump.

Priming of gear pump in alternative attitudes

A gear pump comprises a drive gear being mounted for rotation about a first axis and having a plurality of gear teeth at a radially outer location. A driven gear is mounted for rotation about a second axis, and having a plurality of teeth at a radially outer location. The drive gear teeth engage the driven gear teeth at a contact face to cause the driven gear to rotate. Slots are formed in the contact face of one of the drive and driven gear teeth.
