Novel carbide supercells for dry acetylene generation are disclosed herein, along with methods of use and internal combustion engines incorporating the carbide supercells. A carbide supercell according to one embodiment includes an outer shell defining an interior gas chamber and a rotating basket positioned in the gas chamber. The basket defines a plurality of holes and is configured to contain at least one calcium carbide rock. An injector is adjacent the basket for spraying a liquid into the basket, and a controller is in data communication with the injector for actuating the injector. A chamber outlet is adjacent an upper end of the gas chamber.

An environmentally clean dual fuel for use in an internal combustion engine, comprising acetylene as a primary fuel and a combustible fuel, such as one or more fluids selected from an alcohol such as ethanol, methanol or any other alcohol or alcohols from the group comprising C-Ccarbon chains, ethers such as from the group comprising dimethyl ether, diethyl ether, methyl t-butyl ether, ethyl t-butyl ether, t-amyl methyl ether, di-isopropyl ether and the like, low-molecular-weight esters such as from the group comprising methyl formate, methyl acetate, ethyl acetate, methyl propionate, ethyl propionate, ethyl malate, and butyl malate, and the like, or other suitable combustible fluid such as mineral spirits and the like, as a secondary fuel for operatively preventing early ignition and knock arising from the primary fuel.

Dual fuel composition including acetylene

Internal combustion (I.C.) systems and methods provided herein substantially eliminate incomplete combustion, unburned hydrocarbon emission, and hydrocarbon, CO, NO, and SOemissions. A method of one embodiment includes the steps of providing a fuel stream containing acetylene, providing an I.C. engine, and introducing the fuel stream to the engine's intake port. A method of another embodiment includes the steps of providing a fuel source selected from the group consisting of acetylene and hydrogen, providing an I.C. engine, and introducing the fuel source to the engine's intake port. Still another embodiment's method includes the steps of providing a fuel stream that doesn't include gasoline, diesel fuel, or an alcohol selected from the group consisting of C&#x2013;Calcohols, providing an I.C. engine, and introducing the fuel stream to the engine's intake port. In an embodiment, an I.C. system is provided, including an I.C. engine and a fuel stream containing acetylene.

Internal combustion system adapted for use of a dual fuel composition including acetylene

An animal guard with a multitude of rotatable elements that can be securely mounted on a generally vertical or horizontal structure is disclosed. The rotatable elements may be of varying shapes and are designed to provide an unsteady footing for animals attempting to cross the object to continue travel along the structure. In accordance with one embodiment, the animal guard is configured to surround a vertically-extending structure. A series of hollow rotatable elements, or &ldquo;spinners&rdquo;, are provided with a hole formed at opposing longitudinal ends. The spinners are bifurcated into two generally equal halves that attach together. A guard plate is mounted to surround the structure and has a series of cross arm brackets which extend through the end holes of the spinners to serve as end axles for rotation and to position the spinners around the circumference of the structure. A support means secures the location of the guard plate and spinners and couples the guard plate to the structure. Another embodiment of the animal guard inhibits animal passage along generally horizontal structures, such as cables, lines and wires. A series of hollow rotatable spinners are provided with a hole formed at opposing longitudinal ends. The spinners are bifurcated into two generally equal halves that attach together to secure the spinners around a horizontal structure. End shields are configured with a hole extending laterally therethrough to mount the end shields onto an end section of the spinners; one end shield is positioned at each of the opposite ends of a series of spinners. A gripping means is positioned adjacent to the end shields at the opposite end of the series of spinners to grip the horizontal structure and hold the end shields and spinners at fixed positions horizontally along the line.

An environmentally clean dual fuel for an internal combustion engine, comprising acetylene as a primary fuel and a combustible fuel, such as one or more fluids selected from an alcohol such as ethanol, methanol or any other alcohol or alcohols from the group comprising C.sub.1 -C.sub.20 carbon chains, ethers such as from the group comprising dimethyl ether, diethyl ether, methyl t-butyl ether, ethyl t-butyl ether, t-amyl methyl ether, di-isopropyl ether and the like, low-molecular-weight esters such as from the group comprising methyl formate, methyl acetate, ethyl acetate, methyl propionate, ethyl propionate and the like, or other suitable combustible fluid such as mineral spirits and the like, as a secondary fuel for operatively preventing early ignition and knock arising from the primary fuel. The dual fuel, internal combustion system, which generally utilizes a two-stage process for start-up and operation and can be operated with air- or liquid-cooling, is environmentally clean with hydrocarbon, CO, NO.sub.x, and SO.sub.x emissions substantially eliminated.
