A hemodynamic flow assist device includes a miniature pump, a basket-like cage enclosing and supporting the pump, and a motor to drive the pump. The device is implanted and retrieved in a minimally invasive manner via percutaneous access to a patient's artery. The device has a first, collapsed configuration to assist in implantation and a second, expanded configuration once deployed and active. The device is deployed within a patient's aorta and is secured in place via a self-expanding cage which engages the inner wall of the aorta. The device includes a helical screw pump with self-expanding blades, sensors, and anchoring structures. Also disclosed is a retrieval device to remove the hemodynamic flow assist device once it is no longer needed by the patient and an arterial closure device to close the artery access point after implantation and removal of the hemodynamic flow assist device. The hemodynamic flow assist device helps to increase blood flow in patients suffering from congestive heart failure and awaiting heart transplant.

Arterial closure device

A system capable of providing a liquid purification process using heat regenerating or recovering via heat exchangers ('HEs'). The system, in one embodiment, includes a first set of thermal conductive channels ('TCC'), a second set of TCC, and a third set of TCC. The first set of TCC configured in a first HE is arranged in cylindrical shape which is able to surround or enclose a boiler. A function of TCC is to guide a liquid flow traveling through an HE. The second set of TCC configured in a second HE guides a second liquid flow traveling through the second HE. The third liquid flow such as a cold water stream, for example, flows through the third set of TCC adjacent to the first set of TCC and extracts heat from the first liquid flow such as hot purified water via TCC.

Method and apparatus for reclaiming heat during liquid purification using heat exchanges

A method and apparatus for liquid purification using regenerating heat exchange are disclosed. An apparatus, in one embodiment, includes a liquid receptacle, a heat exchanger, a heating mechanism, a compressor, and a condenser. While the liquid receptacle is able to receive a stream of liquid such as water, a heat exchanger pushes the liquid through the heat exchanger to increase temperature of the liquid. The heating mechanism is capable of facilitating phase transition of the liquid from liquid to vapor. The compressor is operable to guide the vapor and the condenser is configured to condense the vapor into liquid or purified liquid.

Methods and apparatus for purifying liquid using regenerating heat exchange

A liquid processing system is able to purify liquid such as water using an electromagnetic heater. The system, in one embodiment, includes a main boiler, a bottom boiler, a heating element, and a heating coil. The main boiler is structured to have a cylindrical shape and is configured to separate purified liquid from incoming liquid. The bottom boiler, configured to couple to the main boiler, holds at least a portion of incoming liquid for purification process. While the heating coil, which is situated adjacent to the heating element, is able to generate a magnetic field in accordance with an electrical current, the heating element produces heat needed for purification process in response to the magnetic field.

Method and apparatus for heating during a liquid purification process using an electromagnetic heater

The present specification discloses a beam chopping apparatus, and more specifically, a helical shutter for an electron beam system that is employed in radiation-based scanning systems, and more specifically, a beam chopping apparatus that allows for variability in both velocity and beam spot size by modifying the physical characteristics or geometry of the beam chopper apparatus. The present specification also discloses a beam chopping apparatus which provides a vertically moving beam spot with substantially constant size and velocity to allow for substantially equal illumination of the target. In addition, the present specification is a beam chopping apparatus that is lightweight and does not cause an X-ray source assembly employing the beam chopper to become heavy and difficult to deploy.

A separated tracking device includes a first portion including a location determining device operative to receive signals from a positioning system, a wireless communication device operative to communicate the location data from the first portion to a second portion of the tracking device, the second portion including a wireless data transceiver operable to transmit the location data to a remote server. In a particular embodiment, the first portion of the tracking device is attached to a first shoe and the second portion of the tracking device is incorporated in a second shoe. In another embodiment, the second portion of the tracking device is incorporated in a hand-held device. A method for manufacturing a separated tracking device and a method of operating a separated tracking device are also disclosed.

A latch for selectively locking a bulkhead to a computer chassis. The latch includes a shoulder defining a longitudinal axis, a handle, an engagement body, and a biasing member. The handle extends outwardly from the shoulder and the engagement body extends from the handle opposite the shoulder. The biasing member extends outwardly from the shoulder and includes a compressible intermediate section and a trailing section. The latch is configured to be rotatable about the longitudinal axis between locked and unlocked positions. In the locked position, the engagement body locks the bulkhead to the chassis. Further, the intermediate section of the biasing member biases the trailing section to lodge against the chassis such that the biasing member resists movement from the locked position. In one preferred embodiment, the latch further includes a stop member extending outwardly from the shoulder and configured to contact the chassis in the locked position.

A method and apparatus for easily and inexpensively coupling a chassis to a slide. Computer related components are disposed within a chassis that is disposed within a rack. A sliding assembly that includes an inner slide allows the chassis to be extended from the rack such that the computer related component can be easily replaced or serviced. The inner slide has an opening extending therethrough that is partially covered by a spring that extends over the opening. A protrusion extends from a side surface of the chassis that can be engaged with the opening so as to couple the chassis to the inner slide. When the protrusion is being inserted into the opening, the spring deforms so as to allow the protrusion to enter the uncovered portion of the opening. When the protrusion reaches the uncovered portion of the opening the spring automatically moves back into its undeformed shape so as to engage the protrusion. The protrusion is secured between the end of the spring and the sides of the opening where the opening is uncovered, securely latching the chassis to the slide. The chassis can be easily uncoupled from the slide by deforming the spring and removing the protrusion from the opening.
