Examples of systems and methods for bridging virtual and physical spaces are described. In some of these examples, a particular communicant's real world state drives changes in one or more of the communications connections, virtual state, and communications interface of the particular communicant or another communicant.

Bridging physical and virtual spaces

A virtual area has a spatial visualization and includes zones that are associated with respective geometric boundaries located in relation to the spatial visualization. Realtime data stream connections between sources and sinks of network nodes in the zones of the virtual area are administered to provide a wide variety of virtual area applications, including virtual area applications that implement spatial rules for one or more synchronous conferencing services (e.g., instant messaging, such as text chat, audio conferencing, video conferencing, application sharing, and file sharing).

Virtual area communications

A cover device for a swimming pool is disclosed that effectively keeps out debris including leaves, branches, or even small animals, and helps trap heat underneath the cover saving users the cost of a pool heater. The cover device comprises a flexible member that can be folded up for storage when deflated. Once the flexible member is substantially inflated, the exterior surface forms a generally convex shape which allows the flexible member to float on and cover substantially an entire surface of the swimming pool. The cover device further comprises a plurality of handles secured around a perimeter of the flexible member, and a skirt secured below the plurality of handles. The skirt is inflated and weighted, such that the skirt retains the flexible member on the surface of the swimming pool, sealing the swimming pool.

Swimming pool pillow

A temporary garage device is disclosed that allows users to easily protect the outside of their vehicle from the elements. The temporary garage device comprises a protective cover component and a storage component for storing the protective cover component. Typically, the protective cover component is positioned in an arc-shape via a plurality of thin beams secured to the interior surface of the protective cover component to form a semi-rigid skeletal structure. Specifically, the protective cover component collapses in an accordion style for storage in the interior of the storage component. When needed, the protective cover component can then be linearly extended outward from the storage component in a semi-tubular configuration to cover the vehicle. Additionally, the storage component can comprise a plurality of wheels secured to a bottom side to allow the storage component to move and for ease in transportation of the temporary garage device.

Insta-garage

An improved racquet handle, such as for a tennis or racquetball racquet, comprised of one or more flexible insert devices that add flexibility to said handle and create one or more pivot points along said handle. The increased flexibility of the racquet handle enables a user to impart greater force on a ball, such as a tennis ball, and also dampens or reduces the amount of vibration and/or shock otherwise imparted to the racquet user when the racquet strikes the ball. The structure of the improved racquet handle and the insert device(s) also permit the user to use the improved racquet handle with a plurality of interchangeable racquet heads.

Flexible racquet handle

An improved golf club shaft comprised of a flexible insert device that adds additional flexibility to said club shaft and creates one or more pivot points along said shaft. The increased flexibility of the golf club shaft enables a golfer to impart greater force on a golf ball, and also dampens or reduces the amount of vibration and/or shock otherwise imparted to the golfer when the golf club head strikes the golf ball.
