An emulsion is provided for defoaming water used in processing of various products such as cellulose or wood-based products or in food processing which is formed by reacting a fatty acid with a compound selected from the group consisting of ammonia, sodium, potassium and combinations thereof so as to form a water soluble soap, dispersing the water soluble soap in water and homogenizing the dispersed water soluble soap with hydrophobic oil or hydrocarbon oil to produce the emulsion. Methods for preparing the emulsion and using the emulsion are also provided. The emulsion is advantageous in that it can improve water resistance and/or reduce the use of water resistant additives during processing of cellulose or wood-based products or food-grade products.

Coatings, coating compositions and coating suspensions that contain solar reflective and/or shielding components for use in coating substrates such as cellulosic fiberboard construction materials. The coatings may vary in color from pink to red or from yellow to orange depending on which colorant or solar reflective pigment is used or combinations of colorants and solar reflective pigments is used. Methods of making and using the coatings and coating compositions/suspensions are also provided.

A method comprising applying a chemical change reagent to coal prior to combustion of the coal is provided. In some instances, the chemical change reagent can include an effective amount of a material to reduce NOx emissions, SOx emissions, or both from combustion of the coal.

Methods of improving combustion of solid fuels

A method is provided for reducing noxious emissions from the combustion of coal or other solid fuels wherein a suspension and/or a dispersing agent is combined with a catalyst having a high surface area to mass ratio so as to optimize the reduction of emissions such as NOx. In addition, the agent and/or catalyst is applied on the surface of the fuel in an evenly distributed manner so as to maximize the contact between the agent and/or catalyst and combustion gases and further maximize reduction of emissions.

Synfuel composition and method of using same

An acqueous synfuel composition to be used as an additive for coal and like combustible materials to cause chemical bonding with the coal or materials to transform it into a substance legally defined by United States Air Quality Regulations as a synfuel. Also disclosed is a method of coating a concrete-like material including the step of applying, to the surface of the concrete-like material a coating of the aqueous coating composition of the invention. Also disclosed is an article of manufacture which includes a concrete-like material having applied thereto a coating as described above. The aqueous coating composition surprisingly meets the relevant ASTM and other standards for concrete curing without employing any hazardous materials and/or volatile organic compounds.
