Systems and methods for beneficiating a recovered fly ash material and/or recovering fly ash from an impound site are described. The method may include thermally treating a first portion of a recovered fly ash material to form a thermally treated fly ash having a first temperature of at least 1000° F., and contacting the thermally treated fly ash with a second portion of the recovered fly ash material to cool the thermally treated fly ash to a second temperature of less than or equal to 500° F. and form a fly ash product. The fly ash product may have a carbon content less than 8% by weight, based on the total dry weight of the fly ash product.

Methods and systems for controlling carbon burn out

Systems and methods for beneficiating a recovered fly ash material and/or recovering fly ash from an impound site are described. The method may include thermally treating a first portion of a recovered fly ash material to form a thermally treated fly ash having a first temperature of at least 1000&#xb0; F., and contacting the thermally treated fly ash with a second portion of the recovered fly ash material to cool the thermally treated fly ash to a second temperature of less than or equal to 500&#xb0; F. and form a fly ash product. The fly ash product may have a carbon content less than 8% by weight, based on the total dry weight of the fly ash product.

A mercury removal system and methods thereof include at least one supply system, at least one cooling system and at least one separation system. The supply system is connected to introduce at least beneficiated fly ash particles into an exhaust stream. The exhaust stream comprises at least one exhaust gas and mercury and at least a portion of the mercury in the exhaust stream adheres to the introduced beneficiated fly ash particles. The cooling system cools the exhaust stream before or after the connection of the supply system to the exhaust stream. The separation system separates from the exhaust stream and outputs at least a portion of the introduced beneficiated fly ash particles with the adhered mercury.

Mercury removal systems using beneficiated fly ash particles and methods thereof

A method and system for controlling emissions with ammonia recovery and fly ash beneficiation in accordance with the present invention includes introducing ammonia to react with at least a portion of sulfur trioxides in an exhaust emission and result in at least one or more ammoniated compounds. At a least a portion of fly ash particles and the ammoniated compounds in the exhaust emission are precipitated and at least the precipitated fly ash particles are beneficiated. At least a portion of the beneficiated fly ash particles which are heated are mixed with the precipitated ammoniated compounds to recover at least a portion of the ammonia. The recovered ammonia is reused in introducing ammonia to react with at least a portion of sulfur trioxides.

Coal combustion systems with emissions control and fly ash beneficiation and methods thereof

A system and method for decomposing ammonia from fly ash contaminated with ammonia is provided which includes maintaining the temperature of a bed of ammonia-contaminated fly ash at a decomposition temperature greater than 500&#xb0; F. and less than 842&#xb0; F. to decompose the ammonia from the fly ash. In a preferred embodiment, the ammonia-laden fly ash is maintained at a temperatures less than a lowest carbon combustion temperature at which substantial combustion of carbon in fly ash begins to occur. A preferred embodiment includes a first chamber operating at a decomposition temperature greater than 500&#xb0; F. and less than 842&#xb0; F. followed by a second chamber operating at a higher carbon combustion temperature for carbon burn-out.

System and method for recomposing ammonia from fly ash

A method and system for reclaiming and beneficiating fly ash particles includes recovering at least a portion of fly ash particles from reclaimed feed and supplying at least a portion of the recovered fly ash particles to at least one mixing reactor with a chamber where at least a portion of the supplied fly ash particles are thermally beneficiated.

Methods for reclaiming and beneficiating fly ash particles and systems thereof

A system and method for beneficiation of fly ash particles which at least partially reduces sulfur emissions includes at least one mixing reactor with a chamber and at least one exhaust, at least one fly ash source connected to provide fly ash particles to the chamber, at least one sorbent source, and at least one fluid supply system. The sorbent source provides at least one type of sorbent particles to be mixed with the fly ash particles to reduce sulfur emissions. A mass of the fly ash particles in the chamber is greater than a mass of the sorbent particles in the chamber. The fluid supply system provides at least one fluid to the chamber during a beneficiation of at least a portion of the fly ash particles in the chamber.

System and method for decomposing ammonia from fly ash

This invention relates to an apparatus, method and product wherein fine particles of fly ash containing carbon are oxidized in a dry, bubbling fluid bed of previously introduced fine particles of the same fly ash so that the subsequently removed particles have reduced carbon content and are useful as pozzolan, suitable for use, without further processing, to replace a portion of the cement in concrete. The preferred conditions are a temperature of about 1300.degree. to 1800.degree. F., air velocity of between at least about 0.5, but not more than about 3 ft./sec., residence time of at least about 2 minutes but up to 100 minutes, volume ratio of air to fly ash of between about 1,000 and 1500, and an excess of oxygen between about 5% and 15%.
