The invention provides a process for the preparation of a multimodal high density polyethylene (HDPE) having a melt flow rate (MFR) of 0.1 to 4.0 g/10 min, said process comprising: (i) polymerising ethylene in a first polymerisation stage in the presence of a Ziegler-Natta catalyst to prepare a first ethylene homopolymer having a MFRfrom 10 to 500 g/10 min; (ii) polymerising ethylene in a second polymerisation stage in the presence of said catalyst and said first ethylene homopolymer to prepare an ethylene homopolymer mixture comprising said first ethylene homopolymer and a second ethylene homopolymer, said mixture having a MFRfrom 50 to 1000 g/10 min; and (iii) polymerising ethylene and at least one alpha-olefin comonomer in a third polymerisation stage in the presence of said catalyst and said ethylene homopolymer mixture to prepare said multimodal HDPE.

Process for the preparation of multimodal high density polyethylene

The present invention relates to a process for producing of solid particulate olefin polymerisation catalyst or catalyst carrier comprising forming a solution of the catalyst or a catalyst carrier in a solvent, subjecting the solution into an atomization by spraying the solution via a capillary vibrating spray nozzle with a capillary orifice having a diameter of 5 to 100 &#x3bc;m generating a laminar jet of liquid, which disintegrates into liquid droplets entering into the spray-dryer, transforming the droplets with aid of a gas to solid particulate catalyst or carrier in the spray-dryer and recovering the solid particulate olefin polymerisation catalyst or carrier having particle size distribution defined by a volumetric SPAN of 0.7 or less. The invention further relates to the catalyst produced by the methods, and use thereof in olefin polymerisation process.

Catalyst and preparation thereof

The present invention relates to a cable jacket composition comprising a multimodal olefin copolymer, said copolymer having density of 0.935-0.960 g/cmand MFRof 2.2-10.0 g/10 min and said composition having ESCR of at least 2000 hours and a cable shrinkage of 0.70% or lower. The invention further relates to the process for preparing said composition and its use as outer jacket layer for a cable, preferably a communication cable, most preferably a fiber optic cable.

Cable jacket composition

The present invention relates to a cable jacket composition comprising a multimodal olefin copolymer, wherein said olefin copolymer has a density of 0.935-0.960 g/cm3 and MFR2 of 1.5-10.0 g/10 min and comprises a bimodal polymer mixture of a low molecular weight homo- or copolymer and a high molecular weight copolymer wherein the composition has ESCR of at least 2000 hours and wherein the numerical values of cable wear index and composition MFR2 (g/10 min) follow the correlation: Wear index&#x3c;15.500+0.900*composition MFR2. The invention further relates to the process for preparing said composition and its use as outer jacket layer for a cable, preferably a communication cable, most preferably a fiber optic cable.

A process for the preparation of a solid olefin polymerization catalyst or a solid olefin polymerization catalyst component comprising the steps of: (a) forming a liquid/liquid emulsion of (i) a first organic liquid comprising at least one olefin polymerization catalyst component and (ii) an optionally halogenated hydrocarbon liquid immiscible therewith; where the first organic liquid forms the dispersed phase and the optionally halogenated hydrocarbon liquid forms the continuous phase of the liquid/liquid emulsion and wherein the dispersed phase forms droplets in the continuous phase; and (b) transforming the droplets of the dispersed phase to solid particulate particles comprising said at least one olefin polymerization catalyst component, wherein the liquid/liquid emulsion is stabilized with a solid particulate stabilizer.

The invention further relates to the catalysts and use thereof in said multistage process r for producing ethylene copolymers having melt flow rate ratio FRRat least 40 and/or polydispersity index PDI of at least 27.

This invention relates to a solid MgClbased Natta catalyst component for producing olefin polymers and preparation of said catalyst component. Further the invention relates to a Ziegler Natta catalyst comprising said solid catalyst component, Group 13 metal compound as cocatalyst and optionally external additives. The invention further relates to the use of said catalyst component in producing olefin polymers, especially ethylene polymers with desired properties.
