Aspects of the disclosed technology encompass solutions for automatically managing autonomous vehicle (AV) operating and maintenance tasks, such as implementing an alternative operating mode or ordering replacement parts for an AV components. In some aspects, a process of the disclosed technology can include steps for receiving diagnostic data corresponding with an AV component, determining an estimated life cycle of the AV component, and determining whether to generate an action to implement an alternative operating mode or an order request for one or more replacement parts of the AV component, based on the estimated life cycle of the AV component. Systems and machine-readable media are also provided.

Self-maintaining autonomous vehicle procedure

System, methods, and computer-readable media for a calibration check process of sensors on an autonomous vehicle (AV) via a drive-through environment mapped with a series of targets. The targets are used to check the calibration of the sensors on the AV as a quality check before the AV is determined fit to drive autonomously. Supervising a calibration process that collects data from the sensors on the AV based on exposure to a series of targets or augmented camera targets. The collected data may be used for extrinsic calibration aimed to determine that extrinsic parameters that define the rigid relationship between sensors are in set checker bounds.

Drive-through calibration process

Systems and methods are provided for an automatically updated, self-reporting bill of materials. System components report important identifying information including firmware versions, software versions, and part numbers. In particular, when the system detects a change in a component, the bill of materials is updated. Additionally, a log of changes is saved.

Real-time bill of materials for a vehicle

Aspects of the disclosed technology encompass solutions for automatically requesting a backup vehicle for passengers of an autonomous vehicle provisioned ride-hailing service. In some aspects, a process of the disclosed technology includes steps for collecting diagnostic data relating to at least one AV operation, and analyzing the diagnostic data to determine if the AV needs maintenance. Moreover, in response to a determination that the AV needs maintenance, the process can include steps for automatically requesting a backup service for a passenger of the AV. Systems and machine-readable media are also provided.

There is disclosed herein examples of systems and procedures for performing software updates for vehicles. The vehicles may be scheduled for the software updates based on information related to the vehicles. Update systems may determine when the vehicles have entered service ranges of the update systems for the scheduled software updates and may initiate the software updates in response to determining that the vehicles have entered the service ranges. Progress of the software updates may be monitored and displayed on a dashboard system overseeing the software updates of the vehicles.

Vehicle software deployment system

Systems and methods provide for enabling an autonomous vehicle to automatically and dynamically monitor and maintain itself. The autonomous vehicle can analyze diagnostic data captured by a sensor of the autonomous vehicle in accordance with a model of autonomous vehicle operations. Based on the analysis of the diagnostic data, the autonomous vehicle can determine an operational issue and a criticality level of the operational issue based on the model of autonomous vehicle operations and, based on that determination, send the analysis of the diagnostic data to a routing service. The autonomous vehicle can receive instruction from the routing service to dynamically route the autonomous vehicle in accordance with a maintenance action.
