A system and method for modulating optogenetic vagus neurons in a noninvasive and transcutaneous manner is disclosed. The system and method comprises a two-dimensional array of organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs), a voltage-generating unit, a control unit, and a feedback loop. The array is placed on a subject's outer ear. Because the array is flexible, it can be closely placed on the skin of the outer ear. The array can deliver optical therapy and monitor heart rate variability (HRV) of the subject simultaneously, and the pixels of the array can be individually addressed. The voltage-generating unit generates pulsed voltage to the OLEDs. The control unit is connected to the array and controls the array and therapeutic patterns. The feedback loop uses the HRV to identify the therapeutic patterns.

The imaging system can comprise: a scintillator structure; and an electronic device engaged with the scintillator structure, wherein: the scintillator structure can comprise: a scintillator support layer; and a scintillator layer; the scintillator support layer can comprise: a first substantially non-planar surface; and a second substantially non-planar surface, the first substantially non-planar surface can be approximately parallel to the second substantially non-planar surface; the electronic device can comprise a device substrate and one or more active sections; the device substrate can comprise a first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface of the device substrate; the one or more active sections are at the second surface of the device substrate; and the second surface of the device substrate and the one or more active sections can conform to the second surface of the scintillator layer. Method of providing an imaging system and imaging system thereof

Systems and methods for stimulating neural tissue are disclosed. An array of optically emissive pixels is configured to deliver light to the neural tissue of a subject. Individual pixels within the array can be addressed to selectively illuminate a portion of the neural tissue when a neurological event occurs. The system can also include an array of microelectrodes in electrical communication with the array of pixels and a power source. A biocompatible substrate can be used to support the microelectrodes pixels, and the power source. A microelectrode circuit and a pixel circuit can also be supported by the biocompatible substrate.

Integrated high-resolution untethered flexible neural implant

Systems and methods for low-cost point-of-care immunoassay are provided. The system comprises an emitter, two optical interference filters, a microscope slide, a photodiode detector, a circuit, and a measuring unit. The detector is placed upon the second filter, the slide, the first filter, and then the emitter. The emitter comprises non-organic light emitting diodes (LEDs) or organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) that emits light of a first color. The slide is spotted with biofluid from a patient. Biomarkers in the biofluid is bound with immobilized fluorophores that emit light of a second color when stimulated by the light of the first color. The first and second filters band-pass the light of the first and second colors, respectively. The detector detects light of the second color. The current outputted from the detector is converted into a relatively-large output voltage by a circuit. A measuring unit measures the ramp time of the output voltage. The ramp time is to be used to determine the concentration of the fluorophores, which in turn is related to the concentration of the biomarkers.

Point-of-care fluorescent immunoassay for identifying biomarkers in patient biofluid samples

A method can include providing a scintillator structure. Providing the scintillator structure can include providing a scintillator support layer, providing a scintillator layer, and coupling the scintillator layer to the scintillator support layer. Meanwhile, the scintillator support layer has a substantially non-planar surface, the scintillator layer having a first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface and being configured to scintillate, and the first surface of the scintillator layer is coupled to the substantially non-planar surface of the scintillator support layer such that the second surface of the scintillator layer has a contour of the substantially non-planar surface of the scintillator support layer.

A flexible ion-selective field effect transistor (ISFET) and methods of making the same are disclosed. The methods may comprise: (a) attaching a flexible substrate to a rigid support with an adhesive; (b) forming an ion-selective field effect transistor structure on a surface of the flexible substrate; and (c) removing the flexible substrate from the rigid support after step (b).

Some embodiments include a method of providing an electronic device. The method can comprise: providing a first device substrate; providing one or more first active sections over a second side of the first device substrate at a first device portion of the first device substrate; and after providing the first active section(s) over the second side of the first device substrate at the first device portion, folding a first perimeter portion of the first device substrate toward the first device portion at a first side of the first device substrate so that a first edge portion remains to at least partially frame the first device portion. The first edge portion can comprise a first edge portion width dimension smaller than a first smallest cross dimension of one or more pixel(s) of one or more semiconductor device(s) of the first active section(s). Other embodiments of related methods and devices are also disclosed.

Electronic device and methods of providing and using electronic device

Some embodiments include an imaging system. The imaging system includes an active matrix pixel array having a flexible substrate and a pixel. The pixel includes a transistor over the flexible substrate, and the transistor includes multiple active layers having a first active layer and a second active layer over the first active layer. Further, the active matrix pixel array also includes a photodiode over the transistor, and the photodiode includes an N-type layer over the transistor, an I layer over the N-type layer, and a P-type layer over the I layer. Meanwhile, the imaging system also includes a flexible scintillator layer over the active matrix pixel array. Other embodiments of related systems and methods are also disclosed.

Dual active layer semiconductor device and method of manufacturing the same

Some embodiments include a method of operating a detection sensor array. The detection sensor array has multiple detection sensors. Each detection sensor of the multiple detection sensors has an enabled state and a disabled state, and each detection sensor of the multiple detection sensors is configured to detect and identify electromagnetic radiation when in the enabled state and not to detect and identify electromagnetic radiation when in the disabled state. The detection sensor array also has a test state in which all of the multiple detection sensors operate in the enabled state when the detection sensor array is in the test state. Other embodiments of related systems and methods are also disclosed.

Some embodiments include a method of providing an electronic device. The method includes: (i) providing a carrier substrate, (ii) providing a device substrate comprising a first side and a second side opposite the first side, the device substrate having a flexible substrate, (iii) coupling the first side of the device substrate to the carrier substrate; and (iv) after coupling the first side of the device substrate to the carrier substrate, providing two or more active sections over the second side of the device substrate, each active section of the two or more active sections being spatially separate from each other and having at least one semiconductor device. Other embodiments of related methods and devices are also disclosed.

Some embodiments include an imaging system. The image sensor array includes multiple image sensor sheets configured in an array grid. Each image sensor sheet of the multiple image sensor sheets can include a flexible substrate layer, and the flexible substrate layer can include a first flexible substrate side and a second flexible substrate side opposite the first flexible substrate side. Meanwhile, each image sensor sheet of the multiple sensor sheets can include multiple image sensors over the first flexible substrate side, the multiple image sensors can include multiple flat panel image detectors configured in a sheet grid, and the image sensor array can include an approximately constant pixel pitch. Other embodiments of related systems and methods are also disclosed.
