Computing devices have limited interface availability to provide notifications to a user. Aspects of the technology can make optimal use of the limited interfaces by allocating the limited resources to the most urgent and impactful notifications. The event can be assigned an impact level and an urgency level. The combination of the impact level and urgency level can be used to select a communication channel with an appropriate level of resource usage.
