A fluid pump is disclosed. The fluid pump may comprise a housing, a tapered bearing, a drive shaft, a first fluid chamber, and a second fluid chamber. The housing defines a bore. The tapered bearing is received within the bore of the housing. The drive shaft is received within the tapered bearing. The first fluid chamber is defined between the housing and the drive shaft on a first side of the tapered bearing. The second fluid chamber is defined between the housing and the drive shaft on a second side of the tapered bearing. The second fluid chamber is separated from the first fluid chamber by the tapered bearing. The housing includes a fluid passage fluidly coupling the first fluid chamber and the second fluid chamber.

Bearing arrangement for a pump

A fuel delivery system for a combustion engine is provided. The fuel delivery system includes an exhaust treatment device, a fuel injection unit, a fuel supply, and a fuel pump. The fuel pump includes at least one inlet configured to receive fuel from the fuel supply. A first fixed-output pumping element is configured to generate a first fuel flow at a first pressure and a first flow rate. A second fixed-output pumping element is configured to generate a second fuel flow at a second pressure and a second flow rate. At least one of the second pressure and the second flow rate is different from the first pressure and the first flow rate. A first outlet is configured to direct the first fuel flow to the fuel injection unit. A second outlet is configured to direct the second fuel flow to the exhaust treatment device.

Fuel delivery system having multi-output pump

A fuel delivery system is provided for a combustion engine having an exhaust treatment device. The fuel delivery system includes a fuel supply, an injector configured to pressurize fuel and inject the pressurized fuel into the combustion engine, and a transfer pump configured to direct fuel from the fuel supply to the injector. The fuel delivery system also includes an electric pump configured to selectively direct fuel from the fuel supply to the injector during a priming event, and to selectively direct fuel from the fuel supply to the exhaust treatment device.

An engine with a high pressure common rail fuel system includes a bleed line to tank to facilitate evacuation of air and vapor from the fuel lines to assist in priming the fuel system. An anti-drainback valve prevents fuel vapor from migrating in a reverse direction through the bleed line toward the fuel pump during long periods of engine shut down. The inclusion of the anti-drainback valves helps facilitate short cranking times on the order of three seconds or less during engine start up, even after prolonged periods of engine shut down.
