A hybrid propulsion system for an aircraft comprising: an engine disposed within a fuselage of the aircraft, two electrical generators disposed within the fuselage and connected to the engine, and two nacelles. Each nacelle comprises a proprotor, and two electric motors connected to the proprotor. Each electrical generator is connected to the two electric motors in each nacelle. The proprotors provide lift for vertical takeoff and landing in a helicopter mode. A fan is coupled to the fuselage and connected to two additional electric motors. Each additional electric motor is connected to one of the two electric generators.

Hybrid propulsion drive train system for tiltrotor aircraft

The present invention includes a hybrid propulsion system for an aircraft comprising: an engine disposed within a fuselage of the aircraft, two electrical generators disposed within the fuselage and connected to the engine, and two nacelles. Each nacelle comprises a proprotor, and each nacelle houses two electric motors connected to the proprotor. Each electrical generator is connected to the two electric motors in each nacelle. The proprotors provide lift for vertical takeoff and landing in a helicopter mode. A fan is coupled to the fuselage and connected to two additional electric motors. Each additional electric motor is connected to one of the two electric generators. The fan provides thrust for forward flight during an airplane mode. The airplane mode includes increasing power to the fan while decreasing power to the proprotors to zero.

The present invention includes a hybrid propulsion system for an aircraft comprising: one or more turboshaft engines that provide shaft power and are capable of providing thrust; at least one of: one or more electrical generators or one or more hydraulic pumps connected to a shaft of the one or more turboshaft engines; and at least two rotatable nacelles, each nacelle housing at least one of: one or more electric motors or one or more hydraulic motors each connected to a proprotor, wherein the electric motor is electrically connected to the electric generator, or the hydraulic motor is connected to the hydraulic pump, respectively, wherein the proprotors provide lift whenever the aircraft is in vertical takeoff and landing and stationary flight, and provide thrust whenever the aircraft is in forward flight.

The present invention achieves technical advantages as a pilot and passenger seating. An aircraft employs a pilot seat, comprising a contoured structure having ergonomically formed and padded surfaces, with left and right arm supports that include an articulated control knob, movable in three rectangular axes and rotatable about a vertical axis to provide one or more aircraft steering functions for an aircraft, and a touch-sensitive control surface for controlling one or more power system components. A passenger seat, having a contoured structure, having ergonomically formed and padded surfaces, a headrest, a seat, a left support member, and a right support member are adapted to cradle a portion of a passenger's body to support the passenger during travel.

A parasite aircraft for airborne deployment and retrieve includes a wing; a fuselage rotatably mounted to the wing; a dock disposed on top of the fuselage and configured to receive a maneuverable capture device of a carrier aircraft; a pair of tail members extending from the fuselage; and a plurality of landing gear mounted to the wing. A method of preparing a parasite aircraft for flight includes unfolding an end portion of a wing; unfolding an end portion of a tail member of the parasite aircraft; and rotating a fuselage of the parasite aircraft so that the fuselage is perpendicular to the wing. A method of preparing a parasite aircraft for storage includes rotating a fuselage of the parasite aircraft to be parallel with a wing of the parasite aircraft; folding an end portion of the wing; and folding an end portion of a tail member of the parasite aircraft.

Parasite aircraft for airborne deployment and retrieval

A method of operating a targeting system simulation tool (TSST) includes providing a TSST configured to receive an obstacle/effect parameterization, a simulation parameterization, a sensor parameterization, an aircraft parameterization, and an autonomy parameterization. The method further includes receiving by the TSST, at least one of each of an obstacle/effect parameterization and a simulation parameterization. The method further includes receiving by the TSST, either (1) a sensor parameterization or (2) an aircraft parameterization. The method further includes operating the TSST to apply the provided ones of the obstacle/effect parameterization, simulation parameterization, sensor parameterization, and aircraft parameterization to generate a value, value range, or value limit for the unprovided aircraft parameterization or unprovided sensor parameterization.

Targeting system and simulator therefor

A system for deploying and retrieving a parasite aircraft includes a parasite aircraft with a dock and a carrier aircraft that includes a maneuverable capture device tethered to the carrier aircraft via a cable. The maneuverable capture device includes a plurality of rotors and is configured to dock in the dock of the parasite aircraft. A method of deploying a parasite aircraft includes positioning a parasite aircraft on a loading surface; positioning a carrier aircraft above the parasite aircraft; releasing, from the carrier aircraft, a maneuverable capture device comprising a plurality of rotors; securing the maneuverable capture device to a dock positioned on the parasite aircraft; lifting, via a cable secured at a first end to the carrier aircraft and at a second end to the maneuverable capture device, the parasite aircraft with the carrier aircraft; and releasing the parasite aircraft from the maneuverable capture device.

System and method for deployment and retrieval of parasite aircraft

In an embodiment, a maneuverable capture device includes a frame, a plurality of rotors secured to the frame, an attachment point disposed on the frame for securing a cable of a carrier aircraft to the frame, and an attachment feature configured to secure maneuverable capture device to a dock of a parasite aircraft. In an embodiment, a method of docking a maneuverable capture device with a parasite aircraft includes positioning a carrier aircraft above a parasite aircraft, releasing the maneuverable capture device attached to the carrier aircraft by a cable from the carrier aircraft, flying the maneuverable capture device to a dock of the parasite aircraft, and securing the maneuverable capture device to the dock of the parasite aircraft.

Maneuverable capture apparatus for airborne deployment and retrieval of parasite aircraft

An aircraft system includes a wing member and a plurality of unmanned aircraft systems selectively connectable to the wing member. The wing member has a generally airfoil cross-section, a leading edge and a trailing edge. The unmanned aircraft systems have a connected flight mode while coupled to the wing member and an independent flight mode when detached from the wing member. In the connected flight mode, the unmanned aircraft systems are operable to provide propulsion to the wing member to enable flight. The unmanned aircraft systems are operable to be launched from the wing member to perform aerial missions in the independent flight mode and are operable to be recovered by the wing member and returned to the connected flight mode. Thereafter, in the connected flight mode, the unmanned aircraft systems are operable to be resupplied by the wing member.

In one embodiment, an apparatus comprises a processing device configured to: obtain sensor data from one or more sensors associated with an aircraft, wherein the one or more sensors are configured to detect information associated with an operating environment of the aircraft; detect an object near the aircraft based on the sensor data; obtain a camera feed from a camera associated with the aircraft, wherein the camera feed comprises a camera view of at least a portion of the aircraft; generate a display output based on the camera feed and the sensor data, wherein the display output comprises a visual perspective of the object relative to the aircraft; and cause the display output to be displayed on a display device.
