An example method includes (1) obtaining, by one or more processors, data stored at a memory of a illumination unit; (2) obtaining, by one or more processors, a temperature value from a temperature sensor; (3) analyzing, by one or more processors, the obtained data and the temperature value to determine a capacitor voltage to operate LEDs in accordance with an illumination cycle; and (4) control, by one or more processors, a voltage controller to convert an input voltage to the voltage controller to the determined capacitor voltage, wherein the voltage controller is configured to apply the determined capacitor voltage to a capacitor.

Systems and methods for adaptive energy storage in an illumination system are disclosed herein. An example method includes (1) obtaining, by one or more processors, data stored at a memory of a illumination unit; (2) obtaining, by one or more processors, a temperature value from a temperature sensor; (3) analyzing, by one or more processors, the obtained data and the temperature value to determine a minimum capacitor voltage to operate LEDs in accordance with an illumination cycle; and (4) control, by one or more processors, a voltage controller to convert an input voltage to the voltage controller to the determined minimum capacitor voltage, wherein the voltage controller is configured to apply the determined minimum capacitor voltage to a capacitor.

A method and system for controlling illumination according to eye safety standards. The method includes a processor retrieving from a memory of an illumination module, device information indicative of properties of the illumination module. The device information includes a plurality of parameters of an illumination element of the illumination module, and a maximum constant for the illumination element. The maximum constant is associated with a desired eye safety standard and is also indicative of a relationship between at least two parameters of the illumination element. The method further includes receiving, from a user, a desired parameter value for one of the parameters of the plurality of parameters. The processor determines a test constant from the desired parameter value, and the processor compares the test constant and maximum constant to determine if the desired parameter value is an acceptable value.

An apparatus and system for operating a handheld barcode scanner in a presentation mode are provided. The apparatus includes an upright stand having a lower end for placement adjacent to a work surface, and an opposing upper end. The apparatus includes a lower mirror, an upper mirror and a dock all supported by the stand. The dock holds the handheld barcode scanner between the lower mirror and a scan volume above the work surface to define a first beam path segment between the handheld barcode scanner and the lower mirror. The upper mirror defines a second beam path segment between the upper mirror and the lower mirror, and a third beam path segment between the upper mirror and the scan volume. The first, the second and the third beam path segments define a beam path between the handheld scanner and the scan volume.
