A face mask assembly configured with a drop down feature and a method of manufacturing the same are provided. The face mask assembly includes a face mask component slidable along a length of at least a first strap. The face mask component includes a first dynamic strap engagement feature defining a slide portion and a locking portion to engage the first strap. The slide portion includes a smooth edge such that the face mask component is slidable along the length of the first strap while the first strap is positioned within the slide portion. The locking portion includes a sharp edge to provide frictional restriction to the first strap during operation such that face mask component is locked relative to the length of the first strap while the first strap is positioned within the locking portion. A corresponding method of manufacture is also provided.

Adjustable face mask assembly

A hardhat shell has a suspension that is secured to the shell by a hanger. The suspension has a horizontal band portion for extending around a user's head, and the suspension is positioned within a hardhat shell. At least one hanger is connected to the suspension for securing the suspension to the shell. Each hanger has a hook at a first end of the hanger, a latching surface located towards the middle of the hanger, and a lever arm at a second end of the hanger. At least one mount is formed on the inner surface of the shell. Each hanger is configured to securely engage a respective one of the mounts, with the latching surface of the respective hanger being in frictional engagement with the respective ledge surface of the mount. By manually pivoting the hanger, a user can cause the latching surface to disengage from the ledge surface.

A headgear for a head safety product such as a face shield, hardhat or welding helmet includes a headband with hangers extending therefrom to engage the head safety product being worn, at least one crown strap engaged with the headband to support the headgear over the wearer's head and a self-adjusting elastomeric nape belt configured to extend over the occipital portions of the wearer's head. The elastomeric nape belt depends from symmetric rear strap extensions of the headband and is configured to elastically self-adjust to the occipital area of the wearer's head.

Apparatus and associated methods may relate to a protective headgear assembly having a suspension system with user controls for independently adjusting a front loop length and an occipital loop length. In an illustrative example, the front loop length may lie in a substantially horizontal plane, and the occipital loop length may lie substantially in a plane that intersects the front loop length at non-zero angle such that the occipital loop length descends posterior a user ear to cradle a user occipital. In some examples, an intersection of the front loop length and the occipital loop length may fit proximal the user ear after adjusting the frontal loop length and the occipital loop length to circumferentially fit a user head. In some examples, the user control for the front length may provide a macro adjustment and the user control for the occipital length may provide a micro adjustment.

Protective headgear assembly

Embodiments relate to improvements for supplied-air abrasive blast respirators. Embodiments may comprise purified air via filters as a back-up air supply, with the filters typically operating automatically to provide purified air when the supplied air is compromised. Embodiments may locate elements outside of the hood to provide ready access for performing seal checks. Embodiments may incorporate noise reduction elements and/or lens protection elements as well.

Abrasive blast respirator

Embodiments of methods of donning and/or testing an abrasive blast respirator may be described herein. The method may comprise one or more of the following, by way of example: placing head straps over a head of a user, wherein the head straps are coupled to an abrasive blast respirator, pulling a hood of the abrasive blast respirator over the head of the user, checking a seal of a facepiece of the abrasive blast respirator by blocking an opening of an exhalation valve coupled to the facepiece and exhaling by the user, where the opening of the exhalation valve is located on an outside of the abrasive blast respirator, and checking the seal of the facepiece by blocking one or more breathing filter coupled to the outside of the facepiece and inhaling by the user.

Embodiments relate generally to noise reduction techniques and systems for use with supplied air respirators. Typical embodiments may comprise porous elements located within a respirator system operable to alter the air flow pattern through the system and therefore reduce noise created in the system. These porous elements might be located within an inhalation valve, a breathing hose and/or a muffler block housing of a respirator system.

Embodiments of methods of assembling an abrasive blast respirator are disclosed. The method may comprise removably attaching an exhalation valve into an exhalation valve port of a facepiece, removably installing the facepiece into a hood, removably attaching a filter to a first inhalation valve, where the first inhalation valve is coupled to the facepiece, and removably attaching a breathing hose to a second inhalation valve, where the second inhalation valve is coupled to the facepiece.

An accessory cap for a respiratory cartridge includes a housing having a front wall and a side wall which cooperate to define an interior cavity. The side wall includes a retaining formation configured and arranged to releasably engage and hold the housing on the respiratory cartridge. The housing includes a downwardly facing air passage configured to allow air to pass from an exterior environment to the interior cavity. The accessory cap further includes a pre-filter support web removably received within the interior cavity and spaced inwardly from the front wall. The housing and the pre-filter support web form a pre-filter cavity within the interior cavity adjacent to the front wall. The accessory cap can function as a standalone shower cap, or a pre-filter media can be optionally inserted into the pre-filter cavity so that the accessory cap functions as a combination pre-filter and a shower cap.

Embodiments relate generally to a replaceable lens cartridge for use with a face mask, for example a respirator. The cartridge comprises a plurality of molded lenses, each lens sized to extend over one or more eyes of a wearer and typically having a curved shape and a plurality of catches; and a molded carrier mounting the lenses in stacked arrangement, the carrier having a first set of catches receiving the catches on one of the lenses.

A sealing device for positive pressure testing is attached to a respirator face mask and includes an outer frame integrally joined to a movable cap by a flexible link that biases the cap in an open position for the operational use of the face mask against a manually applied force to move the cap to a sealed position for the positive pressure testing to assure the proper fit of the face mask on the wearer. The method for positive pressure testing includes flexibly moving the sealing device from the open position to the sealing position such that the sealing surface of the cap seals the exhalation valve assembly closed. The wearer then exhales into the mask to test the seal of the mask. When the test is completed, the sealing device is released and the inherent biasing force moves the cap from the sealing position to the open position.
