The embodiments of the invention are directed to a synthetic ceramic comprising pyroxene-containing crystalline phase, a clast, and a glass phase, wherein at least a portion of the synthetic ceramic is plastically deformable in a certain temperature range. Other embodiments of the invention relate to a method of making a synthetic ceramic, comprising heating a green ceramic material to 900-1400&#xb0; C., to a temperature sufficient to initiate partial melting of at least a portion of the green ceramic material, transferring the heated green ceramic material to a press, pressing the heated green ceramic material in a die at 1,000 to 10,000 psi, and transferring the heated, pressed green ceramic material to a furnace for cooling to form the synthetic ceramic.

The present system comprises an apparatus and a process for continuously dispersing fine particles in a liquid. The apparatus comprises a mixer that has at least one inlet for receiving the fine particles and liquid and an outlet. The mixer further comprises a barrel that has an inlet for accepting the fine particles and an outlet for dispersing the fine particles and a tank for holding the liquid. The tank has a top surface in which the barrel is disposed such that the outlet of the barrel is disposed under the surface of the liquid. An inlet of a vacuum centrifuge is coupled to the outlet of the mixer to receive a mixture of liquid and fine particles. A surge tank is coupled to an outlet of the vacuum centrifuge, wherein the mixture is dispersed from an outlet of the surge tank.

Process and apparatus for continuous mixing of slurry with removal of entrained bubbles

The present invention comprises a control system and method for the continuous mixing of slurry while removing entrained bubbles. The control system for continuous mixing of slurry with removal of entrained bubbles comprises a power and fluid rate control, wherein the powder and fluid rate control is coupled to a mixer through a powder feeder and a liquid pump. A fluid level control is coupled to the mixer and a surge tank, and a flow rate is coupled to the surge tank. The present invention also comprises a method for controlling the continuous mixing of slurry while removing entrained bubbles comprising providing a powder and fluid rate control, wherein the powder feeder and fluid rate control is coupled to a mixer through a powder feeder and a liquid pump. A fluid level coniol is coupled to the mixer and a surge tank and flow rate control is coupled to the surge tank.

Control system and method for continuous mixing of slurry with removal of entrained bubbles

The disclosed device is directed towards a surge tank. The surge tank comprises a side wall including an interior surface. A bottom of tank is coupled to the side wall, wherein the side wall and the bottom of tank define an interior of the surge tank and an exterior of the surge tank. At least one inlet is configured to fluidly couple the exterior of the surge tank with the interior of the surge tank. A weir is fluidly coupled to the inlet at the interior of the surge tank. A flexible element is coupled to the weir proximate to the bottom of tank. An outlet is defined in the bottom of tank.
