An electrical connector for reducing cross-talk and a method for making same is disclosed herein. The connector is comprised of a plurality of conductors arranged in an array within a connector housing. In one embodiment, the conductors have a contact area that lies within a first plane. A first plurality of the conductors have a raised portion, and a second plurality of conductors have a lower portion. The raised portions of the first plurality of conductors are located in a second plane while the lower portions of the second plurality of conductors are located in a third plane. The first, second and third planes may be vertically spaced, or offset, from one another. Additionally, the raised portion and/or lower portion of any conductor may be laterally offset from one another.

Modular jack with anti-cross-talk contacts and method of making same

A modular jack (10) mountable to a circuit board (12), with a bottom section (50) of a housing (32) forwardly of solder tails (38) of contacts (36) thereof, being disposed within a recess (52) in the circuit board, whereby the height of the top surface of the jack above the circuit board is minimized without reducing the size of the plug-receiving cavity (30) of the jack.

Ultra low profile board-mounted modular jack

An avionic connector interface distribution unit interfaces a central controller with a plurality of avionic devices. The distribution unit comprises a large avionic connector (16), a mother input/output (I/O) printed wiring board (18), first and second daughter I/O printed wiring boards (20, 22), first and second parallel headers (28, 30) formed of matable connector pairs, and a plurality of miniature connectors (14). The mother board (18) includes first and second planar surfaces, and each of the daughter boards (20, 22) includes first and second planar surfaces. The first and second daughter boards (20, 22) are generally co-planar and adjacent to each other, and these daughter boards (20, 22) are parallel to the mother board (18). The second surface of the mother board (18) faces the first surfaces of the daughter boards (20, 22). The first header (28) is situated between and mounted to the second surface of the mother board (18) and the first surfaces of the first daughter board (20). Similarly, the second header (30) is situated between and mounted to the second surface of the mother board (18) and the first surface of the second daughter board (22). The large avionic connector (16) is mounted to the first surface of the mother board (18). The plurality of miniature connectors (14) are mounted to the second surfaces of the daughter boards (20, 22).

Avionic connector interface distribution unit

A tool for removal and insertion of a backplane or other electrical member with respect to a housing comprises a frame which can be fixed with respect to the housing and a carriage which can be connected to the electrical member. The carriage is guided in floating relation with respect to the frame and is movable in a first direction to remove the electrical member and in a second direction to insert the electrical member. Fixing the frame with respect to the housing prevents movement of the frame away from the housing, thereby enabling application of force to the carriage sufficient to overcome resistance to insertion of the electrical member.
