A heatshield and sunshield for placement within windows or windshields may be coiled within a permanently installed cylindrical container for storage. The container includes a spring in order to bias the shield in the retracted position. Tracks are installed for the upper and lower edges of the shield in order to maintain a precise distance between the shield and the glass. Preferably two storage containers are installed at opposite sides of the glass or window which the shields are to cover, in order that the shields may be extended from each container and joined to each other near the center of the glass or window. The shields are preferably coated with an aluminized or highly reflective coating on their outer surfaces and are preferably formed of a material of relatively high thermal insulating properties. In one embodiment, spacer blocks are used to position the tracks a precise distance from the surfaces to which they are attached in order to allow a positive circulation of air between shields and glass using the thermal siphon effect.

Vehicle interior heatshield

A method of removing skim from molten metal comprises providing a body of molten metal and passing a fluxing gas therethrough to carry skim to the surface of the metal. The skim on the surface is treated to substantially reduce the amount of molten metal contained therein and to provide the skim in a substantially powdery form. A portion of the treated skim in finely divided form is removed to a collector.

An improved system for melting metal scrap in a molten melting media includes a housing generally cylindrical in cross section and having upper and lower portions. Metal scrap is introduced to a body of molten melting media contained in the upper portion of the housing. A supply of molten melting media is added to the upper portion of the housing through a volute located in the lower portion. The molten melting media is supplied or added by action of an impeller located in the lower portion and mounted on a drive shaft extending through the upper portion. Vanes are mounted on the drive shaft to control the flow motion of the body of molten melting media and metal scrap in the upper portion of the housing by creating a vortex in this body for purposes of mixing the melting media and metal scrap. An opening is provided in the upper portion to remove melted scrap and melting media at a rate substantially commensurate with their rate of introduction.

Aluminum scrap reclamation

A system for melting metal scrap in a molten melting media comprises a housing having an upper portion wherein the melting media and scrap are brought together to initiate melting. The housing also has a lower portion in which a volute is located. An impeller, having a central hub, a circumferential band surrounding the hub, and canted vanes projecting radially from the hub to the band, is positioned in the lower portion of the housing to cooperate with the volute so that upon rotation of the impeller, metal scrap and melting media are moved downwardly and out of the housing.

Metal scrap melting system

A method and apparatus for moving molten media such as molten metal or molten salt through a metal treating system utilizing a vaned disc immersed in the media and located in a cylindrical portion of an open-ended volute so as to provide above the disc a body of the media having an unconfined surface.
