A watercraft carrier includes a base, a hub, an upright, and an actuator. The base includes an outboard end, a distal end, and an upper surface. The hub is disposed at the distal end of the base. The upright is coupled to the hub and configured to rotate with respect to the base. The actuator is configured to release the upright from a locked configuration such that the upright can rotate from a first position to a second position. Displacing the actuator in an outboard direction releases the upright from the locked configuration.

A method of operating a watercraft carrier includes activating a handle at an outboard end of a base of the watercraft carrier. The activating the handle releases a locking mechanism of an upright. The locking mechanism is disposed at a distal end of the base. The method further includes rotating the upright from a first position to a second position.

The slip mechanism includes a first member having a slot formed in a perimeter of the first member. The slot is configured to provide for easier rotation of the first member together with the retaining member.

A watercraft carrier includes a central hub having an upper surface configured to receive a watercraft, an upright rotatably coupled to the central hub and configured to be disposed in a plurality of positions, and a locking assembly coupling the upright with the central hub and configured to secure the upright in the plurality of positions. The locking assembly is disposed below the upper surface of the central hub. A portion of the upright is disposed above the upper surface of the central hub in a first position and the upright is disposed below the upper surface of the central hub in a second position.

The drive mechanism draws a head of the skewer against the prong thereby pinch-securing the bicycle fork to the bicycle fork anchor. The drive mechanism can include a manually operable actuator and a transmission. The manually operable actuator can be coupled to the transmission. The transmission can include a slip mechanism that only transmits driving forces to the skewer of the bicycle fork anchor that are less than the predetermined drive-force.

A bicycle carrier rack mountable to a vehicle includes a mounting member configured to abut against the vehicle and a flexible strap coupled to the mounting member, the flexible strap having a free end. The hooked end piece includes a distal end having a hooked portion and a proximal end. A cover has a passage extending therethrough from a first end of the cover to a second end of the cover. The cover is slidably disposed about the flexible strap and configured to enclose the blocker and a portion of the hooked end piece within an interior of the cover. The blocker inhibits movement of the flexible strap through the proximal end of the hooked end piece in the proximal direction.

An upper mounting member is rotatably coupled to the hub and configured to abut against the vehicle and a lower mounting member is coupled to the hub and configured to abut against the vehicle. A latch having a locked position and an unlocked position is coupled to the upper mounting member. The latch is interferingly fitted against one or more teeth of the elongate member in the locked position and positioned away from the elongate member in the unlocked position, and the upper mounting member is rotatable about the elongate member when the latch is in the unlocked position and fixed about the elongate member when the latch is in the locked position.
