A dispensing system for dispensing compressed gas into a receiving vessel, comprising: a supply of compressed gas; a fill line for connecting the supply of compressed gas to the receiving vessel; a fill valve to vary the flow of compressed gas through the fill line; a controller to control the fill valve; a vent line for venting the fill line downstream of the fill valve; a vent line restriction to restrict flow of the compressed gas through the vent line; and a vent pressure sensor to sense a vent pressure representative of an instantaneous pressure of the compressed gas in the vent line upstream of the vent line restriction and to generate a vent pressure signal based on the sensed vent pressure.

An apparatus and process for cooling down a liquid hydrogen or other cryogenic fluid pump can be configured to allow for a quick startup that also helps minimize hydrogen losses. Some embodiments can utilize a blow-by circuit configured and arranged to support the cryogenic cooldown operation for the pump that can minimize hydrogen loss while allowing substantially improved pump startup times. Some embodiments can utilize at least one temperature sensor to monitor temperature and an adjustable control valve that can facilitate the flow of the fluid utilized to perform the cooldown of the pump.

An apparatus for hydrogen dispensing can be configured to generate a display to be output visually to a customer that may use a dispenser to fill a fuel tank with hydrogen fuel. The display can include a graphical user interface or other interface that can show the customer information about the dispensing of fuel that is being provided to the user. This displayed information can include information to indicate an estimated time remaining to fully fill a vehicle's fuel tank so the customer can have visual and/or audible indications for how much longer the customer may have to wait to have the vehicle's fuel tank filled for continued use of the dispenser. During the idle time between refueling vehicles, the temperature of the trapped hydrogen increases resulting in an increase in the pressure of the trapped hydrogen. Block and bleed valves operate to relieve the pressure in the transfer lines.
