A method for reducing communication network performance degradation using in-band telemetry data includes (a) adding in-band telemetry data to one or more data structures flowing through a network element of a communication network, (b) updating a telemetry table according to first telemetry data that is based on the in-band telemetry data, (c) selecting one of a plurality of paths in the communication network at least partially based on data in the telemetry table, and (d) causing a data structure to be routed through the selected one of the plurality of paths in the communication network.

A cross-scheduling resource allocation method for NOMA-based DSS is provided for a first wireless technology carrier and a different second wireless technology carrier co-existing on a same network communication channel. The method includes providing a resource subframe the first carrier within the channel at a specified bandwidth and duration, synchronizing the second wireless carrier to the specified duration within the specified bandwidth, allocating first PRBs within a first portion of the specified bandwidth for the first technology user traffic and second PRBs within a second non-overlapping portion of the specified bandwidth for the second technology user traffic, programming a frequency gap between the first PRBs and the second PRBs, obtaining channel information regarding the target communication channel, and dynamically adjusting the programmed frequency gap based on the obtained channel information.

A method for reducing communication network performance degradation using in-band telemetry data includes (1) receiving, at an analytics engine of a communication network, first telemetry data from a first network element of the communication network, the first telemetry data being based on in-band telemetry data at the first network element; (2) determining from the first telemetry data that there is performance degradation in at least a portion of the communication network; and (3) in response to determining that there is performance degradation in at least the portion of the communication network, sending a message from the analytics engine to a second network element of the communication network.

An access network includes a first local network node configured to serve one or more first client devices according to a first network protocol, a second local network node configured to serve one or more second client devices according to a second network protocol different than the first network protocol, and a hub in operable communication with the first and second local network nodes over respective transport media. The hub contains a centralized network node configured to generate a first digitized radio frequency (RF) stream to the first local network node and a second digitized RF stream to the second local network node. Systems and methods include an access layer to perform handovers for a User Equipment (UE) using a mobility status of the UE. A source access node (e.g., a femto cell, small cell, or a macro cell) establishes a first network connection with the UE. Based on a mobility status of the UE, the source access node selects either a small cell access node or a macro cell access node as a target node for connecting to the UE with a handover (e.g., by establishing a second network connection with the UE). The UE may have a medium mobility status or a high mobility status and, in response, be connected to the macro cell access cell for continuous connectivity. Alternatively, the UE may have the low mobility status and, in response, a signal strength analysis of the access nodes may be performed to select the target node for the handover.

A method for mitigating delay in availability of data in a communication network includes predicting an amount of data to egress a first communication device; modifying the predicted amount of data to egress the first communication device according to a data delay profile, to generate a first signal representing anticipated upcoming data transmission by the first communication device, where the data delay profile represents delay in availability of data at the first communication device; transmitting the first signal from the first communication device to the second communication device; generating one or more Grants at the second communication device at least partially in accordance with the first signal, each Grant authorizing the first communication device to transfer data via the network; and transmitting the one or more Grants from the second communication device to the first communication device.

A method for communicating between base stations of two different wireless communication networks may include (1) transmitting a setup request message from a first base station of a first wireless communication network to a second base station of a second wireless communication network, the setup request message including a first user equipment (UE) device context format of the first wireless communication network and a second UE device context format of the second wireless communication network; (2) receiving, at the first base station, a setup response from the second base station, the setup response including a union of the first UE device context format and the second UE device context format; and (3) at the first base station, communicating with the second base station according to the union of the first UE device context format and the second UE device context format.

A radio head includes a standalone small cell configured to receive a plurality of IP packets over a series of sequential sub-frames, and generate a bandwidth report for each of the plurality of received IP packets. The radio head further includes a radio link control unit configured to sum a received bandwidth report with segmentation induced noise for each of the plurality of received IP packets, and an adaptive filter configured to apply a filter weight to each of the series of sequential sub-frames. The applied filter weight is based on (i) an output of the radio link control unit for a previous sub-frame, and (ii) an output of the adaptive filter for the previous sub-frame.

A scheduling unit is provided for managing upstream message allocation in a communication network. The scheduling unit includes a processor configured to determine (i) a number of channels communicating in one direction stream of the communication network, and (ii) a MAP interval duration of the communication network. A base station for a wireless communications system operating in an unlicensed target band of a wireless medium includes a receiver configured to wirelessly (i) receive non-cooperative carrier data within the target band from a user equipment, and (ii) detect an operation of at least one spread spectrum channel within the target band. The station further includes a transmitter configured to wirelessly send non-cooperative carrier data within the target band to the user equipment, a memory configured to store computer-executable instructions, and a processor configured to (i) execute the computer-executable instructions, (ii) determine, based on the detection operation of the receiver, at least one sequence of the at least one spread spectrum channel, and (iii) perform at least one corrective action to mitigate interference between the transmitter and an operation of the at least one spread spectrum channel based on the determination of the at least one sequence.
