A vehicle includes a frame, an engine, a steering assembly, a steerable wheel, a flywheel assembly, and a controller. The frame has a front end and a rear end and defines a roll axis extending between the front end and the rear end. The engine is supported by the frame. The steering assembly is pivotally coupled with the frame and is pivotable about a steering axis. The steerable wheel is rotatably coupled with the steering assembly. The flywheel assembly comprises an inertial mass and is coupled with the frame. The inertial mass is rotatable about a flywheel axis. The controller is in communication with the flywheel assembly and is configured to facilitate rotation of the inertial mass in one of a counterclockwise direction and a clockwise direction in response to pivoting of the steering assembly in a leftward direction and a rightward direction, respectively. Methods are also provided.

Flywheel assemblies and vehicles including same

A vehicle includes a motor, a movable partition, a controller, a sensor, and a power source. The movable partition is operably coupled with the motor. The controller is associated with the movable partition and is configured to detect a resting position of the movable partition. The sensor is coupled with the controller and is configured to detect a vehicular condition. The power source is in electrical communication with the motor and the controller and is configured to facilitate passage of electrical current to each of the controller and the motor. Passage of electrical current to the motor facilitates movement of the movable partition. If passage of electrical current to the motor is interrupted, the controller is configured to detect the resting position of the movable partition after passage of a delay time. The delay time changes in response to changes in the vehicular condition.

A vehicle includes a body structure, a mirror assembly, a controller, and a position sensor. The mirror assembly includes a mirror housing, housing motor, and mirror. The housing motor is operably coupled with the mirror housing and the body structure and is configured to facilitate movement of the mirror housing relative to the body structure. The controller is in electrical communication with the housing motor. The position sensor is in electrical communication with the controller. The controller is configured to detect a position of a rider of the vehicle and to facilitate selective operation of the housing motor to result in movement of the mirror housing to correspond with the detected position of the rider.

A power equipment apparatus includes an engine, a starter switch, a battery, a flywheel assembly, a power regulator, and a controller. The engine includes a crankshaft. The starter switch is configured for selective actuation by an operator. The flywheel assembly comprises a rotor and a stator. The power regulator is coupled with each of the battery and the stator. The power regulator is configured to regulate power transfer between the battery and the stator in response to a control signal. The controller is coupled with each of the battery, the starter switch, and the power regulator. The controller is configured to generate the control signal.

Power equipment apparatus having flywheel assembly

A vehicle includes a frame, an engine, a steering assembly, a steerable wheel, a brake system, a flywheel assembly, and a controller. The frame defines a roll axis. The engine is supported by the frame. The steering assembly is pivotally coupled with the frame and is pivotable about a steering axis. The steerable wheel is rotatably coupled with the steering assembly. The flywheel assembly comprises at least one inertial mass and is coupled with the frame. A controller is coupled with the flywheel assembly and is configured to facilitate rotation of said at least one inertial mass.

A three-dimensional woven active fiber composite is disclosed. The composite includes a plurality of actuating fibers configured in a three-dimensional arrangement. The composite further includes a plurality of conductive wire electrodes that are woven through the plurality of actuating fibers. The electrodes may be configured into two dimensional electrode mats that are spaced apart along the length of the composite. Filler fibers may be used between adjacent electrode mats to help reinforce the composite. A sleeve member can also be used to help provide compressive containment for the actuating fibers and conductive wire electrodes.
