Disclosed are methods and apparatus that help reduce and prevent infection by controlling and/or reducing the level of contaminants, which include pathogens, allergens and/or odor-causing agents including VOCs. Photocatalytic oxidation is performed in a high humidity environment so that hydrogen peroxide molecules are readily produced.

Method and device for enhancing the reduction of pathogens, allergens and odor-causing agents

Disclosed is an air purification device having a housing for holding a photocatalytic oxidation (PCO) unit and a fan assembly. The device may also optionally include a filter compartment for holding a filter such as a HEPA filter. The air purification device is configured to provide effective purification and sanitation of air in a targeted indoor environment, and in particular in a medical environment such as a hospital.

Room cleaning system and method

A vacuum cleaner filter bag exposes bacteria in incoming dirty air to bactericide throughout the useful life of the bag. Fingers provided on the interior walls of the bag are impregnated with bactericide. Air flow in the bag during vacuum cleaner operation causes the fingers to stand out from the wall, intercepting particles in the dirty airstream and exposing bacteria on those particles to the bactericide. The fingers stand out from the wall, and thus kill bacteria, substantially throughout the useful life of the bag, even after a cake of dust and dirt has formed on the inner walls of the bag.
