A feed system for an aerosolizer utilizes an ampoule containing a liquid and includes a housing having an ampoule region into which the ampoule is held, and a liquid receiving region that is adapted to receive liquid dispensed from the ampoule. An interface is used to couple the liquid receiving region to an aerosol generator, whereby liquid from the liquid receiving region is permitted to flow to the aerosol generator for aerosolization.

Convertible fluid feed system with comformable reservoir and methods

An aerosol generator comprises a vibratable member having a front, a rear, an outer periphery and a plurality of apertures extending between the front and the rear. A support element is disposed about the outer periphery of the vibratable member, and a vibratable element is coupled to the support element. The vibratable element is configured to vibrate the vibratable member at ultrasonic frequencies. An isolating structure is coupled to the support element and is configured to couple the aerosol generator to a support structure. The isolating structure has a mechanical vibrational impedance that is sufficient to substantially vibrationally isolate the aerosol generator from the support structure.

A fluid filled ampoule comprises an ampoule body having a top end, a bottom end and a sealed interior containing a liquid. A top tab is coupled to the top end and is removable to create a drain vent in the top end. A bottom tab is coupled to the bottom end and is removable to create a drain opening in the bottom end. A movable shroud is coupled to the top end and is disposed about the top tab. The shroud is movable to permit access to the top tab.

An integrated blood pump/oxygenator having a rotating hollow fiber bundle assembly that both oxygenates and pumps blood is provided that includes a plurality of partitions disposed within or about the fiber bundle assembly to lengthen the flow path of blood passing through the fiber bundle. Alternatively, or in addition, blood flow paths may be lengthened and oxygenation improved by providing internal recirculation paths within the pump/oxygenator, which also advantageously may be used to reduce blood trauma caused by stagnation nearing moving parts and heat build-up.

A radiation delivery catheter which increases the margin of safety and reduces unintended exposure to radiation dosage during delivery thereof to a target area to reduce the likelihood of the development of restenosis. The catheter includes a shaft comprised of radiation shielding material, to shield the patient and staff from unintended radiation exposure. The catheter further includes a treatment section including a reservoir balloon comprised of radiation trans-parent material, which enables predetermined concentrations of radioactivity in the radiation source to permeate therethrough into the target area in a substantially uniform dosage pattern.

The thickness of a polymer coating applied to the interior surface of a stent is precisely controlled by fitting a mandrel within its interior. Fitment of an exterior mold serves to additionally control the thickness of polymer on the exterior surface of the stent. Alternatively, a preformed sheath of polymer is fitted to the interior of the stent whereby the subsequent application of polymer not only causes the exterior to become coated but also causes the sheath to become adhered to the stent.

Polymer-coated stent structure

A stent delivery method and system are disclosed. The system generally includes an elongated delivery sheath and a perfusion catheter disposed within a sheath lumen of the sheath having an expandable member on its distal extremity. The sheath includes perfusion ports to maintain blood flow to perfusion ports in the catheter during delivery of the stent. A manipulating device is provided at the proximal end of the delivery system to effect relative axial movement between the sheath and the catheter so as to expose the stent mounted on the expandable member on the catheter within a body lumen such as a coronary artery and allow the expansion of the stent by the expansion of the expandable member.

Passive perfusion stent delivery system

The drug loaded stent includes an expandable stent structural member, and a planar sheet of polymeric material attached to the outside of the expandable stent structural member. The polymeric material is preferably bioabsorbable, and loaded or coated with a therapeutic agent or drug to reduce or prevent restenosis in the vessel being treated. The polymer material can be attached to the metal stent at one or more points, and wrapped in a coil around the stent in an unexpanded state, to uncoil and expand in diameter to substantially match the expanded diameter of the metal stent; or can be wrapped tightly around the stent structural member and attached to itself, to stretch radially when the stent structural member is expanded. In another currently preferred embodiment, a combination of a stent structural member and a polymeric film wrapping can be provided with a coating of lubricious material. The lubricious material can be polyethylene oxide, polyethylene glycol, polyethylene acetate, polyvinyl pyrrolidone, polyvinyl alcohol, polyacrylamide, hydrophilic soft segment urethanes, some natural gums, polyanhydrides or other similar hydrophilic polymers, and combinations thereof. The layer of lubricious material protects the stent from the guide or the body lumen in which the stent is inserted by providing a low friction surface over the stents.

The drug loaded stent includes an expandable stent structural member, and a planar sheet of polymeric material attached to the outside of the expandable stent structural member. The polymeric material is preferably bioabsorbable, and loaded or coated with a therapeutic agent or drug to reduce or prevent restenosis in the vessel being treated. The polymer material can be attached to the metal stent at one or more points, and wrapped in a coil around the stent in an unexpanded state, to uncoil and expand in diameter to substantially match the expanded diameter of the metal stent; or can be wrapped tightly around the stent structural member and attached to itself, to stretch radially when the stent structural member is expanded.
