One system includes a first receive path configured to directly sample a first signal in a first frequency range. The system includes a second receive path configured to convert a second signal in a second frequency range. The second receive path includes a receive modulator operating over a duty cycle. The receive modulator is configured to adjust the duty cycle by a predetermined scaling factor.

A tunable multi-path filter, a method for filtering a radio frequency signal with the tunable multi-path filter, and a communication device including the tunable multi-path filter. In one embodiment, the tunable multi-path filter includes a voltage controlled current source, an oscillator source, and at least two filter paths. The voltage controlled current source for receiving a radio frequency (RF) signal and generating a current signal. The oscillator source for generating a tunable clock signal. Each of the at least two filter paths are coupled to the voltage controlled current source and the oscillator source, and are configured to generate an output voltage signal based at least in part on the current signal and the tunable clock signal. In some embodiments, the tunable multi-path filter further includes a carrier signal rejection component that is configured to reduce the carrier feedthrough in the output voltage signals.

Disclosed herein are systems for and methods of using a mirrored wideband baseband current for automatic gain control of an RF receiver. In an embodiment, a system includes an RF receiver having an adjustable gain and being configured to direct convert a received wideband RF signal to a wideband baseband current signal. The system further includes a current replicator coupled to the receiver and configured to generate a mirrored current of the wideband baseband current signal. The system further includes a wideband signal-level detector configured to receive the mirrored current from the current replicator, and to measure and output a signal-level value of the mirrored current. The system further includes an automatic gain-control circuit configured to receive the signal-level value from the wideband signal-level detector, and to adjust the gain of the receiver based at least in part on the received signal-level value.

A communication device includes a receiver that is capable of canceling in -channel interference. The receiver includes an antenna for receiving a wireless signal comprising in-channel components and an out-of-channel component, wherein the in-channel components comprise a desired component and an in-channel interference component. A first filter of the receiver filters the wireless signal by blocking at least a portion of the out-of-channel component to produce a first signal comprising the in -channel components, and at least a second filter of the receiver filters the wireless signal by blocking at least a portion of the in-channel components to produce a second signal comprising the out-of-channel component. An in-channel interference estimator of the receiver generates an in-channel interference estimation signal based on the second signal. And a combiner of the filter combines the first signal and the second signal to at least partially cancel the in-channel interference component of the first signal.

A first differential pair of gain devices and associated bias circuitry is configured to operate in a full gain mode. Heterodyne commutating apparatuses and methods for creating the heterodyne commutating apparatuses are disclosed. The heterodyne commutating mixer includes a plurality of switches for transferring a radio frequency input signal sequentially during a plurality of local oscillator period timeslots to a plurality of output capacitors. The heterodyne commutating mixer also includes a plurality of inductors added across differential in-phase output terminals and quadrature output terminals. Values of inductance and capacitance are set to achieve resonance at an output intermediate frequency.

Methods of enabling late entry into an on-going spread spectrum call are described. A late join frame replaces, and has the same size as, a traffic frame. A late join slot in the late join frame contains sufficient information in preamble and sync subframes to permit a target to join the call. The traffic slots in the late join frame replicate data such that call quality of the call is substantially unaffected if one of the remaining traffic frames is not received. The preamble and sync subframes frequencies may be the same as, or different from, preamble and sync frames frequencies during a call establishment phase of the call. If different, the preamble and sync subframes frequencies are selected from one or more frequencies. Use of the preamble and sync subframes frequencies is compensated for when selecting the traffic slot frequencies to obtain uniform utilization of the spectrum.
