A cash recycling machine () has an input hopper () for feeding batches of mixed coinage to a coin sorter () for sorting, counting and directing coins into a plurality of bulk coin storage receptacles (). From there, the coins are fed into a plurality of smaller dispensing hoppers () equipped with sensors () for counting the coinage as it is dispensed. A controller () is responsive to inputs from a user in a first operating cycle of the machine to cause the dispensing hoppers () to dispense an amount of sorted coinage into one of several receptacles including a cash drawer () or coin bags (). A controller () is responsive to inputs from a user in a second operating cycle of the machine to receive, sort and count a batch of coins that is loaded into the input hopper () and stored in the bulk coin storage receptacles (). The controller () has the ability to track input and output transactions of employees through the work shift for reconciliation at the end of the work shift and to report results to a central accounting computer. In addition, the machine () can operate in the first and second cycles simultaneously.

Machine and method for cash recycling and cash settlement

A moveable coin bin assembly for holding a plurality of coins is disclosed. The moveable coin bin includes a coin bin housing () for receiving coins, the coin bin housing being disposed on wheels () for movement, a handle assembly () including an elongated handle () having an upper end for gripping () and a lower end for coupling and de-coupling to the coin bin housing. The handle assembly () further includes a latching and retaining mechanism () for coupling to the coin bin housing in a motion along a floor, wherein said latching and retaining mechanism is releasable by a user to de-couple the handle assembly from the coin bin housing. The coin bin () includes a brake system that can be selectively applied by a detachable handle (). The bin () can be used with a coin collecting machine () includes a motorized funnel system () for funneling coins to a plurality of coin collecting apertures () in the bin for even distribution.

Method and apparatus for offsorting coins in a coin handling machine

A self-service change redemption machine () has a coin hopper area () for receiving batches of mixed coinage and a powered mechanism () for transporting them to an intake opening () into the machine () for sorting, counting and directing coins into a plurality of coin receptacles. The transport mechanism has a pivotable cover () for preventing access to a portion of the feed path leading into the machine () and, if the cover () is lifted, the powered mechanism () will be stopped. The mechanism () is designed to prevent jamming of the coins in the hopper area () or along the feed path ().

Coin intake mechanism for self-service cash redemption machine and method

A coin dispenser includes a rotatable magazine and a stationary actuator. The rotatable magazine rotates about a rotation axis and includes a plurality of coin receptacles extending substantially parallel to the rotation axis. Each coin receptacle holds a stack of coins therein. The stationary actuator includes a coin-ejection member that moves linearly in a direction substantially parallel to the rotation axis of the rotatable magazine. When in an extended position, the coin-ejection member will contact an edge of at least a lowermost coin in a specified one of the coin receptacles as the magazine rotates to move that coin receptacle into alignment with the coin-ejection member, thereby ejecting that coin from the coin dispenser. When the coin-ejection member is in its retracted position, the coin receptacles will travel past the coin ejection member without any engagement occurring between the coin-ejection member and the coins within the receptacles.

A coin feed control apparatus includes a hopper (20) having a discharge opening (17) that is disposed above a rotating disc (10) of a coin handling machine. The discharge opening (17) is positioned over a coin receiving region (14) of the disc. A coin feed control member (30) is mounted for pivotal movement to further open or further close the discharge opening (17). The feed control member (30), the discharge opening (17) and the coin receiving region (14) are sized such that the feed control member (30) will tend to move to partially close the discharge opening (17) in response to a build-up of coins in the coin receiving region, and thereby limit the flow of coins through the discharge opening (17), and such that the reduction of coins in the coin receiving region (14) will allow the feed control member (30) to drop and further open the discharge opening (17) to allow a greater flow of coins into the coin receiving region. A slidable, tiltable and removable inspection pan (40) that rests on the hopper (20) is also disclosed.

A coin bag spout assembly (25) includes a clip member (26) having an open side and a tubular spout member (27) which pivots through the open side of the clip member (26) for easy removal of filled coin bags.

A bagging spout for a coin handling machine has an inclined chute extending between an upper inlet and a lower outlet. A spreader plate extends downwardly adjacent the outlet. A clamp member is hinged to the top of the spout adjacent the inlet. The clamp member has spaced ears that engage the outside of parallel side portions of the chute to pinch a coin bag between the ears and the chute.

Bagging spout for coin handling machine

A coin handling machine such as a coin sorter has a plurality of collectors in the form of drawers or chutes arranged in a circular array and each adapted to receive coins of a particular denomination through its open top. A switch and switch actuator plate are mounted in the center of the array. A spring-loaded pivot lever extends radially from the plate to each collector location. The plate is normally held in a neutral position but will be moved to actuate the switch when any one of the levers is released. The levers are normally held against release by the presence of a collector at each station. Actuation of the switch will disable the operation of the machine. The machine may be mounted on a platform of a stand to which bagging spouts are removably attached beneath the chutes. The spouts are incapable of removal when the machine is in place on the platform.

Collector assembly for coin handling machine

The coin sorter includes a rotating hard disc forming the bottom of a hopper, and a stationary sorter plate to one side of the hard disc. The sorter plate includes a circular sorting track that begins at a point adjacent to the perimeter of the hard disc and which includes a series of spaced sorting openings each sized for a particular coin denomination. The track has an edge defined by a thin resilient rail held in place in a groove by an elastomer band. A second rotating disc having a series of resilient fingers depending from its underside is mounted above and in close proximity to the upper surface of the sorter plate. The fingers partially overlap the upper surface of the hard disc. Coins deposited in the hopper are formed into a single file and single layer at the outer edge a central upright portion of the hard disc. The single file of coins is carried by the flexible fingers from the hard disc to the sorting track where the coins are sorted by size and counted as they pass through the sorting openings.
