A fastener caddy for use with a bone plate. The fastener caddy includes preloaded fasteners that are positioned above the fastener apertures in the bone plate once the caddy is coupled to the bone plate. The caddy permits the driving of fasteners with the fastener already in proper alignment and without the need to retrieve each individual fastener. Once the fasteners are installed into the bone plate.

In one aspect, a bone anchor assembly is provided having a bone anchor with a head, a resilient locking cap extending about a portion of the bone anchor head, and a cap drive member having a depending annular wall. In another form, a bone plate system is provided including a bone plate having an elongated throughbore and a resilient support member received therein. In another aspect, an insertion device is provided for manipulating and inserting a spinal device at or within a spinal joint. The insertion device is configured to actively pivot the implant about the implant gripping end of the device and to allow manipulation and release of the implant in any pivoted orientation from approximately 0 to 90 degrees.

Instrument for inserting a spinal device

Methods and apparatus for immobilizing a synovial joint, such as a sacroiliac (SI) joint are disclosed. In one form, a multipiece fixation device, such as a dowel, includes multiple expandable fasteners that are configured to fix adjacent bones of a synovial joint with respect to one another. The expandable fasteners include expansion portions that are expanded radially via insertion of another expandable fastener or an expansion device to fix the expandable fasteners to the bone. The fixation device may be configured to provide for compression or distraction of the bones of the synovial joint while at the same time stabilizing the joint.

Apparatus for immobilization and fusion of a synovial joint

A bone plate system having a retainer for resisting back-out of a bone anchor from a throughbore of a bone plate is provided. In one aspect, a bone plate system having a resilient retainer disposed in a bone plate throughbore with a pair of elongate arm portions of the resilient retainer extending along opposite sides of the throughbore. In another aspect, a bone plate system having a resilient retainer with a pair of elongate interference portions completely exposed in the throughbore and spaced from each other across the throughbore to retain a head of a bone anchor received in the throughbore. In addition, a bone plate system having a resilient retainer with a pair of opposite end portions disposed within a groove of a throughbore wall such that a bone anchor may be inserted into the throughbore without contacting either of the opposite end portions of the retainer.

Bone plate system

A wood splitter apparatus comprising a base portion and a leg portion extending upwards from the base portion. An elevated cross member portion extending across the leg portion. A blade portion extending superiorly from the cross member portion. A leading upward edge at a superior aspect of the blade portion for splitting wood. A first splitter surface angled from a second splitter surface inferior to the leading upward edge. A collector portion positioned below the blade portion where the collector portion has a capture space. The collector having a floor face at a bottom of said capture space. The collector portion supported at an angle such that the floor face is sloped defining a high side and a low side where kindling split from a log over the blade portion falls into the high side of the collector portion and gathers on the low side of the collector portion.

Kindling splitter apparatus and methods of use

An insertion device is provided for inserting a spinal device such as an intervertebral implant within a spinal joint. The implant includes at least first and second members, with the first having a convex articulation surface and the second member having a concave articulation surface. The two articulation surfaces provide an articulation interface to substantially mimic natural kinetic motion of the spine. The insertion device can be attached to at least one of the first and second members. In one form, the insertion device is configured such that the first and second members are movable relative to one another while being held to allow the members to form a compact wedge configuration. The insertion device is configured to actively pivot the implant about the implant gripping end of the device and to allow manipulation and release of the implant members in any pivoted orientation from approximately 0 to 90 degrees.

Systems and methods for inserting a spinal device

Instruments and methods are provided for securing a spinal rod in one or more coupling devices secured to the spine by one or more anchor members. The instruments include members for grasping the coupling device and members for shifting one or more elements along a linear path to fix the position of an anchor member and/or fix the position of the rod with respect to the vertebra.
