A method for reducing the appearance of post-acne marks, lightening dark spots and discoloration, fading post-acne marks faster and/or preventing appearance of new post-acne marks by applying a skin care composition. The skin care composition contains a vitamin Bcompound, hydroxycinnamic acid, and water at a pH of less than 5.0.

Skin care composition and method for treating post-acne marks

Disclosed is an efficacious, low-pH skin care composition that provides good sensory properties and has a low skin irritation potential. The low-pH composition includes an effective amount of a vitamin Bcompound and, optionally, one or more additional skin care actives to provide a skin health and/or appearance benefit. The low-pH composition also includes a pH buffer comprising lactic acid and sodium lactate, a polymer thickener comprising polyacrylate crosspolymer-6, and a silicone fluid having a kinematic viscosity of 100 cSt or less at 25° C. Disclosed is a method of improving the penetration of a vitamin Bcompound into skin. A skin smoothing film made from a skin smoothing composition that comprises sodium silicate, polyvalent silicate and water. Moreover, the film may be made from a composition that has a contraction value of from about 30% to about 160%. Multi-step product for improving the appearance and feel of human skin

A multi-layer product for improving the look of human skin by the steps of: apply to the skin a first layer that is a skin care composition; and applying to, and on top of, the first layer, a powder layer. The powder layer has from about 10% to about 30%, by weight of the powder layer, of substantially spherical particles selected from the group consisting of coated or uncoated starch, silicone elastomer particles, and combinations thereof. The powder layer is an aqueous based composition that is an oil-in-water emulsion comprising a non-volatile oil present in a concentration level such that the weight ratio of non-volatile oil to particulate material is from about 1:10 to about 3:2. At least one of, or both the first layer and the powder layer have a contrast ratio of less than about 20.

In one embodiment, a stable personal-care composition in the form of a water-in-oil emulsion may comprise a hydrocarbon wax, a polar oil, and a non-emulsifying silicone elastomer. In another embodiment, a stable personal-care composition in the form of a water-in-oil emulsion may comprise a hydrocarbon wax and a polar oil. The weight ratio of the hydrocarbon wax to the polar oil is from about 0.01 to about 0.5. The personal-care composition allows for previously unattainable levels of polar oils and/or aqueous phase within a water-in-oil emulsion.

A finisher composition that provides improved look and feel benefits to an underlying skin care product. The finisher composition is an oil-in-water emulsion that includes from 10 to 25 wt % of substantially spherical starch particles having a mean particle size of from 5 to 30 microns. The oil phase of the finisher includes a non-volatile oil present at an amount to provide a weight ratio of non-volatile oil to starch particles of from 1:10 to 3:2. The aqueous phase of the finisher includes from 20 to 85 wt % of water.
