The present invention provides novel polymerizable monomers having chelating functionality and processes to make them. In particular, the novel monomers are ethylenically unsaturated aminocarboxylates and are prepared by reacting ethylenediamine triacetic acid or its salt with an ethylenically unsaturated monomer. The ethyleneically unsaturated monomer may be a polymerizable vinyl monomer selected from (o-, p-, m-)DVBMO, allyl glycidyl ether, and glycidyl (meth)acrylate.

Vinyl monomers having chelating functionality

Described are dishwashing detergents, comprising a builder, a surfactant, and a polymer comprising units derived from an ethylenically unsaturated aminocarboxylate monomer having Formula (I): wherein m is 1, 2, or 3, n is, independently at each occurrence, 1, 2, or 3, Ris H or C1-C4 alkyl, Ris Hor &#x2550;O, X is, independently, H, K, Na, or NH, and an ethylenically unsaturated monomer selected from (meth)acrylic acid. 

Automatic dishwashing detergent

The present invention provides novel polymers having chelating functionality and comprising units derived from an ethylenically unsaturated aminocarboxylate monomer which comprises units derived from ethylenediamine triacetic acid or its salt and a polymerizable vinyl monomer. The polymerizable vinyl monomer may be selected from (0-, m-, p-)DVBMO, allyl glycidyl ether, and glycidyl (meth)acrylate. The polymer may also comprise units derived from one or more ethylenically unsaturated monomers.

Polymers having chelating functionality

Oil-water dispersions and emulsions derived from petroleum industry operations are demulsified and clarified using anionic polymers. Formation of such oil-water dispersion and emulsions is inhibited and mitigated using the anionic polymers. The anionic polymers comprise: A) 2-80% by weight of at least one C-C&#x3b1;,&#x3b2;-ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer; B) 15-80% by weight of at least one nonionic, copolymerizable &#x3b1;,&#x3b2;-ethylenically unsaturated monomer; C) 1-50% by weight of one or more of the following monomers: C1) at least one nonionic vinyl surfactant ester; or C2) at least one nonionic, copolymerizable &#x3b1;,&#x3b2;-ethylenically unsaturated monomer having longer polymer chains than monomer B), or C3) at least one nonionic urethane monomer; and, optionally, D) 0-5% by weight of at least one crosslinker.

Polymers as additives for the separation of oil and water phases in emulsions and dispersions

A detergent composition having at least two components. The first component is from 8 to 50 wt % surfactants. The second component is from 0.05 to 4 wt % of a polymer which has polymerized residues of 40 to 80 wt % C-Calkyl acrylates, 20 to 52 wt % C-Ccarboxylic acid monomers, and 0 to 10 wt % of monomers having an alkyl group having at least ten carbon atoms.

An automatic dishwashing detergent composition having at least two components. The first component is a polymer containing polymerized residues of at least one C-Ccarboxylic acid monomer and a hydroxy end group. Scale-reducing additive for automatic dishwashing systems

A phosphorus-free automatic dishwashing detergent composition containing a polymer of acrylic acid, maleic acid and methacrylic acid; a carbonate; and a silicate. The composition contains carbonate and silicate in a weight ratio from 4:1 to 1:3, respectively; from 10 to 90 wt % total carbonate and silicate.
