The wheelchair of the present invention is made of a non-metallic material. The wheelchair is made so that it is easily assembled, light weight, and less expensive than traditional wheelchairs. The wheelchair employs a unique hinge assembly which provides support for the seat, back and foot rest. By using the hinge assembly, the seat, back and foot rest are selfsupporting because the hinge assembly distributes the forces acting upon these members through the side panels. The hinge members are molded integrally with the seat, back and foot panels. Further, when the side panel of the wheelchair is formed, slots are formed therein for receipt of the hinge member. The same is true of the foot rest. The present invention also employs an improved adjusitng mechanism for adjusting the pivotal relationship of the foot rest and an improved brake assembly.

Wheelchair and method of making same

A breast compression plate is connected to a cartridge sleeve for containing a mammographic film cartridge with adjustable tension in a range of positions with detachable straps. The plate is a semi-rigid planar member having a plurality of perforations disposed in a matrix for locating a needle used to determine the position of breast lesions. The plate has spaced buckles which are secured to the straps. The straps have a series of loops formed on one side which are gripped by a plurality of closely spaced hooks secured to spaced ends of the cartridge sleeve. The series of loops extend along the length of the straps to permit changing the length of the straps extending between the plate and the cartridge sleeve, thereby permitting lateral positioning and tension adjustment. The plurality of hooks extend across the cartridge sleeve generally perpendicular to the length of the straps on opposite ends of the sleeve to permit positioning of the plate perpendicularly relative to the length of the straps.

Breast compression and needle localization apparatus

This disclosure relates to a device which may be used to provide active forces necessary to substitute for decreased or absent muscle function in various joints of the body and to help bring deformed or spastic muscles and joints back to normal configuration. Since the device is made from relatively soft, resilient foam, the forces needed to provide assistance to various muscles are inherent within the device itself. The device contains a contoured cavity which is anatomically designed to simulate normal joint and muscle positions.

Dynamic foam orthosis

This disclosure relates to a device for immobilizing infants and young children during radiographic examination. The device consists of a cellular foam insert contoured with a cavity to partially envelop and restrain the child, restraining straps made from a foam and fabric combination, and a plastic base designed to support the foam insert and provide a fastening point for the restraining straps. All of the materials used in the device are radiolucent, thus showing no trace of shadows or foreign artifacts on radiographic film.
