A virtual machine live migration is performed. A port mirroring rule for a source virtual machine in source computer is created by a computer system such that ingress traffic received at the source computer for the source virtual machine is delivered to both the source virtual machine and a target virtual machine on a target computer. The port mirroring rule is established prior to the virtual machine live migration from the source virtual machine to the target virtual machine. The source virtual machine on the source computer is migrated by the computer system to the target virtual machine on the target computer in which the port mirroring rule directs the ingress traffic to both the source virtual machine and the target virtual machine while the source virtual machine is migrated from the source computer to the target virtual machine on the target computer during the virtual machine live migration.

A scheme for managing identifier pool in computer memory is provided. A memory pool array is created within a computer memory, wherein the array reserves locations in the computer memory for use by a software application. Each location in the array represents an identifier. A start identifier and end identifier are specified for the memory pool array, wherein the start identifier specifies a starting location of the array and the end identifier specifies an end location of the array. The memory pool array is initialized by creating an in-array linked list pool of identifiers for use by the software application. An identifier is allocated from the memory pool array for use by the application and released back to the memory pool array after use by the application, wherein allocation and release are managed by a set of pool control variables in the in-array linked list pool.

A method, computer system, and computer program product for provisioning member node group information on a virtual overlay network in a multi-controller cloud environment are provided. The embodiment may include one of the controllers receiving a group association call from user interface for a target node, wherein the group message is either an association-add the target node to or association-remove the target node from a node group. The embodiment may also include the controller performing consistent database manipulation by updating a database based on the received association-add or association-remove call, wherein the controller first updates a database by adding or removing the target node to or from, respectively, the node group in the database. The embodiment may further include the controller reading out the updated member node group from the database before issuing a provision-create or a provision-remove request to the target node.
