A cathode ray tube including an arc limiting resistor means (42) formed on an extension of the glass rods which align and fix the electrodes of the guns (28). The resistors also include means (54) for centering the guns in the neck of the tube.

An arc-resistant deflection yoke for a cathode ray tube deflection system includes a core of magnetic material having a pair of axes with first and second deflection windings toroid-wound in mirror image relationship on opposite sides of one axis and third and fourth deflection windings toroid-wound in a continuous-wound relationship on opposite sides of the other axis. The arc-resistant deflection yoke is fabricated by a process of selecting a core, toroid-wrapping first and second windings on opposite sides of one axis in mirror image of one another and toroid-wrapping third and fourth windings on opposite sides of an opposite axis in continuous-wound relationship.

An improvement is provided in a cathode ray tube plural beam in-line electron gun assembly having applied beam currents of differing levels. At least one of the gun structures in the assembly incorporates discrete electrode modifications or differentiations whereby the respective focusing lens is dimensionally changed to effect a focused beam landing at the screen that is of a size similar to those of the beams emanating from the related guns in the assembly.

A neutralizing agent is maintained adjacent the seal area of electrochemical cells containing corrosive electrolytes. The neutralizing agent can be kept in a pocket or depression formed in a flange next to the seal or can be contained in a suitable plastic ring which surrounds the seal. When the electrolyte is thionyl chloride and aluminum chloride a suitable neutralizing agent is sodium carbonate.
