The invention relates to a composition and method for setting and grouting tile on various substrates characterized by quick setting times and excellent chemical and physical properties.

Composition and method for setting and grouting ceramic tile

New and improved fungicidal grout compositions are disclosed having a Portland cement base with a halogenated aromatic dinitrile added as an active fungicidal ingredient. The dinitrile is first wet blended with an inert solid fungicidal carrier and a surfactant, then dried and finely divided into a powder. The powder is blended with the other dry ingredients of a Portland cement grout to form a grout composition which is ready to be mixed with water to form a workable mortar for the grouting and setting of ceramic tiles. The resulting fungicidal grout compositions have improved fungicide dispersion and prolonged leach-life characteristics.

Fungicidal grout composition

A dry-set Portland cement based grout composition having less than 75% by weight of Portland cement, filler, bentonite clay, and no more than about 0.35% by weight of a composite of a cellulose ether and a long chain polymer such as polyacrylamide.

Dry set grout

A solventless, cross-linked adhesive bonding composition composed of a resin base portion comprised of an epoxy resinous material containing terminal epoxy groups and being essentially free from units derived from vegetable oils and aliphatic ethers, and a filled hardener portion containing a mixture of a modified polyamine and polyamido-amine.

Dry-set mortar compositions adapted to be mixed with water containing, in the dry state, sand, Portland cement and a cellulose ether improved by the inclusion of anionic polyacrylamide and Bentonite Clay.
