An electrical assembly comprises an upper electrical center assembly and a lower mounting bracket lift assembly that is adapted for being secured to a support panel such as a support panel in an automobile. After the lower mounting bracket lift assembly is secured to the support panel, the upper electrical center assembly is attached to the lower mounting bracket lift assembly. The lower mounting bracket lift assembly is then operated to plug wiring harness end connectors in the lower mounting bracket lift assembly into lower sockets of the upper electrical center assembly.

Connector engage mechanism

An electrical assembly comprises a mounting bracket lift assembly and an electrical center. The electrical center is attached to the mounting bracket lift assembly for plugging wiring harness end connectors into the electrical center. The electrical center comprises a lower housing, a circuit board sub-assembly, an upper housing, electrical components such as fuses and relays that plug into the upper housing and a cover. The circuit board sub-assembly includes a power bus bar that provides a power path for the various electrical circuits of the vehicle via the circuit components carried on the circuit board. Three power bus bars that are configured, oriented and located to reduce the foot print of the electrical center and/or to improve the dissipation of heat generated by the electrical center are disclosed.

An electric cable assembly may include an electric cable and a conductive contact. The electric cable has a conductive core, an inner insulation jacket surrounding the conductive core, a conductive layer surrounding the inner insulation jacket, and an outer insulation jacket surrounding the conductive layer. The conductive contact is injection molded around the conductive layer at a prepared section of the electric cable so that the conductive contact can conduct electric current from the conductive layer.

Shielded electric cable assembly

A cable connector includes a connector housing attached to an outer shell. A seal is disposed at least partially between the outer shell and the connector housing. A shield is at least partially disposed about the connector housing adjacent to the seal. In one exemplary approach, the connector housing is removably attached to the outer shell. In another exemplary approach, the seal has a unitary configuration.

Cable connector

A shielded electric cable assembly comprises a shielded electric cable and a shield terminal. The shield terminal comprises a ferrule of one-piece construction having an inner ferrule portion and an outer ferrule portion that is radially spaced from the inner ferrule portion and attached to the inner ferrule portion by an end wall. The inner ferrule portion is disposed between an inner insulation jacket of the shielded electric cable and an exposed end portion of an intermediate conductive layer surrounding the inner insulation jacket. The outer ferrule portion is crimped about the exposed end portion of the intermediate conductive layer to crimp the inner ferrule portion tightly around the inner insulation jacket and to clamp exposed end portion of the intermediate conductive layer between the inner ferrule portion and the outer ferrule portion of the one piece ferrule. A conductive cylindrical shell is attached to the one-piece ferrule. An inner terminal which is attached to the cable is disposed in the conductive shell.

Shielded electric cable assembly and method

An electromagnetically shielded cable includes a shell having an end portion and a shield embedded in the end portion of the shell. A method of forming the electromagnetically shielded cable is also provided. The method includes the steps of inserting the end portion of the shield into a mold, and embedding the end portion of the shield in the shell. In one embodiment, the shell includes a connector extending from the shell and through an opening defined by the shield for embedding the shield in the shell. In another embodiment, the shield is embedded directly in the end portion of the shell.

Electromagnetically shielded cable

A braided shield includes a housing formed from a plurality of wires braided together and having a dual-layer configuration. The housing has an outer layer integrally formed with an inner layer. A support is at least partially disposed in the housing, and the inner layer is disposed between the support and the outer layer. The inner layer and outer layer reduce electromagnetic radiation leakage into/out of the housing by reducing the number of holes in the housing. Forming the braided shield includes providing the housing, which defines a longitudinal axis and a passage extending along the longitudinal axis. The housing has an end portion, and the end portion is compressed transverse to the longitudinal axis. The end portion is then forced into the passage. Accordingly, the braid shield reduces or eliminates electromagnetic radiation while providing a strong and consistent crimp with the support.

Fold-in braided shield

A shielded electrical connection system has a pair of electrical connectors each comprising an inner insulator housing and an outer housing of conductive material. A shunt member of conductive material contacts conductive plug and socket portions of the respective electrical connectors when mated, to enhance electrical continuity between the outer housings. The shunt member is disposed in a shunt chamber and a connector seal seals the chamber at one end. A terminal attached to a shielded electric cable is disposed in a terminal passage in electrical connector that has a second shunt chamber at an inlet of the terminal passage. A second shunt member engages the conductive shield of the cable in the second shunt chamber and the outer housing of the connector. A cable seal seals an inlet of the second shunt chamber. The outer housing of electrical connector is adapted for connection to a conductive casing for grounding the shielded electrical connection. This outer housing carries a second connector seal for sealing an interface between the outer housing and the conductive casing.

EMI shielded electrical connector and connection system

A shielded electrical connection system comprises a male electrical connector and a female electrical connector that mates with the male electrical connector. The mated electrical connectors have mated terminals that are disposed and sealed in communicating terminal passages of the respective electrical connectors. The electrical connectors also have engaged electromagnetic shields that are disposed and at least partially sealed in communicating shield chambers that are isolated from the mated terminals that are sealed in communicating terminal passages.

Shielded electrical connector and connection system

A coaxial cable termination system for providing a reliable electrical connection of an end of a coaxial cable to an electrical device. An electrically conductive core body is cast over the core of the coaxial cable, and an electrically conductive shield body is cast over the shield of the coaxial cable, wherein the core and shield bodies are electrically and mechanically connected to the coaxial cable, yet the core and shield bodies mutually have direct current electrical isolation with respect to each other. Each of the core and shield bodies has respective attachment features for a particular application, such as for example connecting to a circuit board.

Coaxial cable termination system

A terminal for a coaxial cable includes an electrically conductive core mounted in a dielectric member. The dielectric member along with the conductive core are positioned within an electrically conductive ground shield. The ground shield includes two identical split-barrel housing members which are joined together. When joined, the housing members form a cylindrical channel having surfaces which intimately contact an exposed length of cable outer conductor layer, creating a conductive connection between the outer conductor layer and the ground shield and structurally maintaining the outer conductor layer concentric to the dielectric sheath and inner conductor of the cable.

Terminal assembly for a coaxial cable

An environmentally protected (sealed) BEC ( ) at the upper and lower housing seams ( ) and at each of the connector receptacle ( ). A lower housing ( ) of the BEC is formed conventionally, as for example by plastic injection molding and may carry a printed circuit board (PCB) ( ), a spacer plate ( ) and an electrical assemblage ( ) including upstanding blade terminals ( ). A liquid injection molding process now injects a resilient seal (silicone) over all mating surfaces of the upper housing body, including the upper housing seam ( ) and each connector receptacle.

Method of making an upper housing for a bussed electrical center

An integrated BEDC and PCB provided through a low cost, highly reliable interconnect system. The upper and/or lower half of the main insulation assembly of a BEDC is provided with a recess for accommodating at least an edge portion of the substrate of a PCB. The PCB is provided with apertures such as holes for receiving therethrough a bus wire and/or terminal slots through which terminals having wire slots are fixedly staked. The apertures on the PCB are arranged in a predetermined pattern so as to align with corresponding respective apertures in the form of corresponding holes and/or terminal slots on the BEDC at the recess thereof. Accordingly, with the PCB seated in the recess, as the bus wires are laid, they will pass through the holes in the PCB and/or pass through the wire slots of the terminals and thereby provide interconnection therebetween when the two halves of the main insulation assembly are united and the PCB is sandwiched therebetween. Additionally, the electrical interconnect system includes a flexible strain relief bend formed on the bus wire to provide a flexible connection.

Electrical interconnect system and method for integrating a bussed electrical distribution center with a printed circuit board

An electrical distribution center including a printed circuit board having electronic components thereon and a first and second through hole formed in the print circuit board. A terminal is provided which may be a female tuning fork, male blade or blank for insertion in the first through hole. A solderable spring tab is stamped, bent and formed from the body the terminal. The solderable spring tab is inserted in the second through hole. The solderable spring tab compensates for movement of components due to the difference in thermal expansion of the printed circuit board, solder joint, and terminal material.
