A controlled-environment facility and/or communications management system interface accepts definition of a digital bulletin board message directed to at least one controlled-environment facility resident, accepts assignment of a priority for displaying the digital bulletin board message on the digital bulletin board and a schedule for display of the digital bulletin board message and accepts assignment of the digital bulletin board message to controlled-environment resident communication and/or media device(s) disposed in the controlled-environment facility. The digital bulletin board message(s) are received by the controlled-environment resident communication and/or media device(s) to which the digital bulletin board message is assigned, and are displayed by the controlled-environment resident communication and/or media device(s) to which the digital bulletin board message(s) are assigned, in accordance with the assigned priority and the schedule for display of the digital bulletin board message(s).

Embodiments of the invention are directed to methods, apparatuses, and systems for verifying inmate presence during a secure facility transaction. In one embodiment, a method may include receiving input information to initiate a user session at an interactive data terminal, generating user presence information to track the presence of the user at the interactive data terminal, determining that the user has left the interactive data terminal in response to the presence information, and automatically terminating the user session in response to a determination that the user has left the interactive data terminal.

Systems and methods of controlling communications using temperature and/or Radio Frequency (RF) signals are disclosed. In some embodiments, a method may include determining whether a user operating a communications device has at least temporarily transferred at least partial control of the communications device to another user based, at least in part, upon a change in at least one of: a temperature or an RF signal sensed at the communications device. The method may also include controlling an aspect of a communication conducted via the communications device based, at least in part, upon the determination.

Systems and methods for dynamically assigning an Automatic Number Identification (ANI) to a device deployed in a controlled-environment facility. In an illustrative, non-limiting embodiment, a system may include: a processor; and a memory coupled to the processor, the memory having program instructions stored thereon that, upon execution by the processor, cause the system to: receive a request to facilitate a communication between a resident of a controlled-environment facility and a non-resident of the controlled-environment facility, where the resident operates a device lacking a dedicated ANI; and assign a temporary ANI to the resident's device, where the temporary ANI is different from any other ANI being used by any other device in the controlled-environment facility concurrently with the communication.

Dynamically assigning an automatic number identification (ANI) to a device deployed in a controlled-environment facility

A controlled-environment facility resident interface runs on top of, or as part of, an operating system of a controlled-environment facility resident communication and/or media device. Application programs (apps) available for use by a resident of the controlled-environment facility operating the device are presented on the device, via the interface. The interface may provide functionality to enable switching between apps by the resident, such as selectable open application program indicator(s) displayed on a screen of the device, and/or the interface may assign a function to device hardware button(s) to provide a mechanism for switching between apps. The app switching functionality may also resolve conflicts between apps for device resources and apply such resolutions as a result of the resident switching between apps. Also, the resident may be logged into one or more resident-selected apps using stored app login information for resident-selected apps in the interface, in combination with identity verification.

Intelligent controlled-environment facility resident communication and media device interfaces with multitasking

Systems and methods insert a modulated signal into audio of a controlled-environment facility resident's side of a call, such as by a controlled-environment communication apparatus, or the like. The same or a different controlled-environment communication apparatus, or the like, may detect the same and/or another modulated signal inserted into the audio of the same and/or another controlled-environment facility resident's side of the call in the audio of an other party's side of the call. The same or a different controlled-environment communication apparatus, or the like, may determine if more than one modulated signal is present in the other call party's side of the call and alert an authority that more than one controlled-environment facility resident is taking part in the call.

Controlled-environment facility resident communication detection

A controlled environment facility resident may initiate submission of data to a controlled-environment facility management system using a resident media device, and some time thereafter, access to the resident media device may be restricted by the controlled-environment facility management system to submission of data, until the resident completes submission of all data required for the submission. A controlled-environment facility management system may present a controlled-environment facility resident a data collection task to be completed by the resident and may restrict access to the resident media device in an escalating manner, until the resident completes the data collection task. The controlled-environment facility management system may also request further data from the resident, in response to the resident submitting initial data and may again restrict access to the resident media device in an escalating manner, un&#xdf;til the resident completes submission of further data.

Compelling data collection via resident media devices in controlled-environment facilities

Methods and systems for video blurring in a secure environment are described. In one embodiment, the method includes receiving video at a video visitation device in a secure environment, adjusting a depth of field parameter for the video, such that an image of a first object at a first distance from the video visitation device is in focus and an image of a second object at a second distance from the video visitation device is blurred, and providing the video to a viewing device located outside of the secure environment.
