A seal monitoring apparatus is provided. The seal monitoring apparatus includes a temperature sensor and a controller in communication with the temperature sensor. The temperature sensor is mounted at a seal of a device. The controller is configured to receive measured temperature data from the temperature sensor and calculate expected temperature data for the seal based at least in part on operating conditions of the device. The controller is configured to determine a condition of the seal based at least in part on a temperature difference of the measured temperature data from the expected temperature data.

Seal monitoring apparatus

A seal monitoring apparatus is provided. The seal monitoring apparatus includes one or more pressure sensors and a controller in communication with the one or more pressure sensors. The one or more pressure sensors is mounted at a seal of a turbine to measure pressure on a first side of the seal and/or a second side of the seal. The controller is configured to receive pressure data from the one or more pressure sensors and determine a condition of the seal based at least in part on the pressure data. The controller is configured to output a signal upon determining a change in the condition of the seal.

Methods for adhering a substrate onto a surface of a ceramic component are provided. The method may include applying a first bond coating onto an attachment surface of the substrate, applying a first alumina coating onto the first bond coating on the attachment surface of the substrate, applying a second bond coating onto an outer surface of the ceramic component, applying a second alumina coating onto the second bond coating on the attachment surface of the substrate, applying a cement onto at least one of the first alumina coating and the second alumina coating, and adhering the attachment surface of the substrate onto the outer surface of the ceramic component. Connections between a metal substrate and a ceramic matrix composite component are also provided.

A system for display for an augmented/virtual reality-based decision-making simulation includes a controller configured to receive input from a user, at least one of an augmented reality or a virtual reality device configured to display a simulated environment, a processor, and a memory coupled to the processor. The memory stores one or more computer-readable instructions, which, when executed by the processor, cause the system to: receive input by the user from the controller, indicating a selected scenario; display, on the at least one of the augmented reality or the virtual reality device, the selected scenario; receive input from the user, from the controller, to interact with the selected scenario; monitor one or more parameters associated with the execution of tasks in the selected scenario using the controller; and evaluate the user based on the monitored one or more parameters.
