This disclosure provides a method, apparatus, and computer-readable medium for wireless communication at a modem, comprising receiving, via an interface with a host, an internet protocol (IP) packet including a first transport protocol header and a first IP header. The IP packet has a size greater than a maximum transport unit (MTU) size allowable for each packet transmitted over a communication link. The modem segments the IP packet into a plurality of segments based on a segment size indicated by a segmentation policy. Each segment includes a respective derived segment transport protocol header and a respective derived segment IP header derived from the IP packet. Each of these derived headers includes at least one field based on the segmentation policy, and each of the segment transport protocol headers includes a checksum for the respective segment. Additionally, the modem transmits the plurality of segments over the communication link.

Systems and methods are provided for sending caller ID information including a PTT signal up to a user interface module quickly, instead of first sending an incoming call alert or an incoming call alert and caller ID information without PTT information, and later sending the PTT information. A bypass alert message may be included with the caller ID information relating to the incoming call message sent from the main control task to the user interface module.

Call processing system and method

Systems and methods are provided for processing a digital only call origination request. When the digital call is released, a wireless communication device does not scan for a more preferred communication system, even if the wireless communication device has acquired a less preferred communication system. Instead, the device continues to be locked onto the current system. The device may wait until the expiration of a re-scan timer.

Management of digital wireless connections

A system for updating a wireless application is provided. The system has a network service area that uses multiple networks to provide wireless coverage. An application server couples to one of the networks, and is used to communicate with local applications that operate on wireless devices within the network service area. These wireless devices also operate standard lower-level process that provide for basic connectivity and information transfer, with these lower-level process providing a network identification value. The local application monitors this network identification value, and when it changes, generates an alert that is transmitted to the application server. The alert may include information regarding the new network, therefore the application server is updated to know what network the wireless device is operating on.

System and method for updating wireless applications

A system and method for operating a mobile station in two modes, voice mode and page mode. A mobile station and a base station are provided. The mobile station is capable of operating in a first mode suitable for receiving telephone calls and in which the mobile station scans portions of a channel at a first rate. The mobile station is capable of operating in a second mode suitable for receiving pages only and in which the mobile station scans portions of the channel at a second rate. The first rate is higher than the second rate and the mobile station is capable of switching between the two modes at the option of the user thereof.
