An electromagnetic braking assembly for maintaining an actuator shaft in position, and methods for utilizing the same, are provided. The actuator shaft may include an object, e.g., an imaging lens, which is movable in accordance with movement of the shaft. The braking assembly may include a braking coil to which electricity may be applied to produce a magnetic field, a braking magnet capable of changing position as it interacts with the magnetic field, and a braking spring coupled with the magnet such that the spring changes position as the magnet changes position. When the braking spring is in one position, the spring exerts pressure on the actuator shaft substantially preventing the shaft from engaging in linear movement and thus maintaining the shaft in position. When the actuator shaft is in another position, the braking spring does not exert pressure on the shaft permitting the shaft to engage in linear movement.

The disclosure relates to a portable terminal with a case and inside the case: an electronic or optoelectronic module for acquiring or processing information or data and a compartment for housing a battery pack, said battery pack configured to power said electronic or optoelectronic module. The portable terminal also includes: a cap for closing said compartment, said cap being movable between a closed position and an open position wherein said compartment is open to allow the insertion or extraction of said battery pack. The terminal also includes a locking/unlocking device configured to lock/unlock said cap from said case. The terminal also includes a holding device configured for holding said battery pack within said compartment, wherein said holding device can be deactivated when said cap is in said open position in order to allow said battery pack to be extracted from said compartment.

The present disclosure describes a device () for the acquisition of optical information, in one embodiment including an external case () and, within the case (), an optical module () including an optical focusing group () having an optical axis (X). The device () may further include, within the case (), a mechanical actuator () associated with the optical focusing group () and configured in such a way as to move the optical focusing group () along the optical axis (X). The mechanical actuator () may include a gripping member () of the optical focusing group () arranged externally with respect to the optical module () and associated with the optical focusing group () on opposite sides with respect to the optical axis (X). The gripping member () can be moved along a direction parallel to the optical axis (X) such as by way of a control member () extending coaxially to the optical axis (X) and operatable in rotation around the optical axis (X) from the outside of the case ().
