Beam combining optical systems include a fiber beam combiner having multiple inputs to which output fibers of laser diode sources are spliced. Cladding light stripping regions are situated at the splices and include exposed portions of fiber claddings that are at least partially encapsulated with an optical adhesive or a polymer. A beam combiner fiber that is optically downstream of a laser source has an exposed cladding secured to a thermally conductive support with a polymer or other material that is index matched to the exposed cladding. This construction permits attenuation of cladding light propagating toward a beam combiner from a splice.

Devices and methods for treatment of a patient's vasculature are described. Embodiments may include a permeable implant such as a permeable shell or mesh having a radially constrained state configured for delivery within a catheter lumen, an expanded state, and a plurality of elongate filaments that are woven together. The permeable implant may include a stiffer proximal portion that is configured to sit at the neck of an aneurysm. The stiffer proximal portion may include additional mesh layers on either the inside or the outside of a first permeable shell. The distal portion of the device may be softer and deformable.

A laser system including a rack, a plurality of laser modules mounted in the rack to drive light through an optical fiber exiting the system, and a power distribution module to distribute electricity through circuit branches coupled to the laser modules is generally presented. In some embodiments, the rack includes a horizontal cross-member with a bottom rack flange extending vertically and defining a bottom of an opening in the rack. In some embodiments, the power distribution module includes an enclosure disposed in the rack opening, a face of the enclosure including a bottom lip to engage an edge of the bottom rack flange as a fulcrum point over a range to allow the enclosure to pivot between first and second pivot angles relative to the rack, one or more rails mounted within the enclosure, and one or more circuit components associated with each circuit branch disposed within the enclosure, each of the components including a rail-mount by which the component is affixed to the one or more rails, and a plurality of electrical cables coupling the power distribution module to the laser modules. In some embodiments, the one or more rails comprise a first and second rail bifurcating an interior volume of the enclosure into front and back volumes, and the one or more components further comprise a first component mounted to the first rail and occupying a portion of the front volume and a second component mounted to the second rail and occupying a portion the back volume. Other embodiments are also disclosed and claimed.

Laser power distribution module

Media skew correction is performed by determining a leading edge skew value for the media and selecting a respective media model from a memory for a media type, each media model including a paired slope and an intercept. Based on the paired slope and intercept for the respective media model, differential velocity of a pair of aligned media feed rollers in a media feed mechanism is adjusted to correct a trailing edge skew for the media to within a desired operational window.

A laser module service shelf is generally presented. In some embodiments, a laser system includes a rack including a stack of slots to support a plurality of laser modules in first positions within the rack, wherein the rack comprises a pair of struts extending at opposite sides of an opening in the rack through which the laser modules may pass, and a module service shelf attachable to the struts to support a weight of one of the laser modules in a second position that is cantilevered from the rack in alignment with the opening and one of the slots, wherein the module service shelf comprises a plurality of detachable sections. Other embodiments are also disclosed and claimed.

A laser optical fiber tray is generally presented. In some embodiments, the optical fiber tray comprises an enclosure, coupled with a laser system rack, having an opening in the enclosure to accept a feeding fiber exiting from the laser system rack, an opening in the enclosure to allow passage of the feeding fiber out of the enclosure, and a user-accessible space within the enclosure to contain a length of the feeding fiber. In some embodiments, the optical fiber tray is mounted to a top panel of the laser system rack. In some embodiments, the optical fiber tray is mounted to a top panel of an external module which is mounted to a top panel of the laser system rack. Other embodiments are also disclosed and claimed.

An apparatus includes a plurality of input fibers including one or more signal fibers and one or more beam dump fibers, a signal combiner having an input end coupled to the plurality of input fibers so as to couple portions of one or more signal beams respectively propagating in one or more of the signal fibers to form a combiner beam, an output fiber coupled to an output end of the signal combiner so as to receive the combiner beam, and a beam dump coupled to at least one of the one or more beam dump fibers so as to receive a light beam propagating from the output fiber that is associated with the combiner beam.

A laser optical fiber tray is generally presented. In some embodiments, the optical fiber tray comprises an enclosure having an opening in a bottom of the enclosure to accept a feeding fiber exiting from a top of a laser system rack, an opening in a side of the enclosure to allow passage of the feeding fiber out of the enclosure, a removable panel to allow access to an interior of the enclosure and two or more coil guides affixed within the interior of the enclosure, the coil guides spaced apart by a distance that defines a minimum diameter for a loop of the feeding fiber to be contained within the enclosure. In some embodiments, the optical fiber tray is mounted to a top panel of the laser system rack. In some embodiments, the optical fiber tray is mounted to a top panel of an external module which is mounted to a top panel of the laser system rack. Other embodiments are also disclosed and claimed.

Detecting misalignment of test probes with component carriers in an automated test system is taught. Automated test systems for testing electronic components can have electronic components held in component carriers in preparation for testing. Testing can include moving test probes through openings provided in the component carrier to contact the electronic components held therein. Aspects of disclosed implementations use force feedback from the test probes to determine if the test probes have successfully contacted the electronic component without, for example, contacting the component carrier.

Probe out-of-position sensing for automated test equipment

An improved method and apparatus for detecting problems with fit and finish of manufactured articles is presented which uses structured light. Two or more structured light images acquired from opposing directions is used to measure the fit of mating surfaces while avoiding false positives caused by small defects near the seam.

Method and apparatus for detecting defects using structured light

Systems and methods are provided for imaging a planar specular object such as a semiconductor wafer. In one embodiment, an imaging system for imaging a defect on a planar specular object includes a telecentric lens having a sufficiently aspherical surface such that the telecentric lens is substantially corrected for an optical aberration. The imaging system also includes a telecentric stop including an aperture therein to block light reflected from the planar specular object while allowing light reflected from the defect to pass through the aperture. The imaging system further includes a lens group having a system stop positioned between the telecentric stop and the lens group. The lens group is substantially corrected for the optical aberration independent of the telecentric lens.

Optimizing use and performance of optical systems implemented with telecentric on-axis dark field illumination

An artificial vagina releaseably attached to one end of a phantom mare. The phantom includes a body section that is adjustable such that the vertical height and angle of inclination can be set to accommodate stallions of all sizes. The body section also includes a recessed area to simulate the shape and size of a mare's body and to provide the stallion with a gripping area. The phantom of the present invention makes collection more natural for the stallion and will be less work for the handler.
