A machine includes a power generation system; a propulsion system; a work implement coupled to a body of the machine via a linkage that includes at least one actuator; a perception system configured to generate a signal that is indicative of a position of the machine relative to a material receptacle; and a controller operatively coupled to the perception system, the propulsion system, the power generation system, and the at least one actuator. The controller is configured to receive the signal from the perception system, determine a location of the work implement relative to the material receptacle based at least in part on the signal from the perception system, and actuate at least one of the propulsion system, the power generation system, and the at least one actuator based on the determined location of the work implement relative to the material receptacle.

System and method for operating a material-handling machine

A method for testing a perception system is disclosed. The method includes detecting, by a processor, one or more objects in a composite image, the composite image including a first image and at least a portion of a second image. A first set of objects are detected in the first image. Further, the method includes comparing, by the processor, a second set of objects of the one or more objects detected in the portion of the second image with a set of previously detected objects in the portion of the second image. Furthermore, the method includes validating, the performance of the processor in the detection of the first set of objects in the first image by ensuring the second set of objects detected in the at least a portion of a second image matches the set of previously detected objects in the portion of the second image.

Systems and methods for testing an automatic perception system

A system for monitoring an implement of a work machine is provided. The system may include one or more image sensors mounted on the work machine configured to capture one or more images of a field of view associated with the implement, and an implement controller in electrical communication with the image sensors. The implement controller may be configured to receive the images from the image sensors, identify one or more interactive targets within the images, select one of the interactive targets based on proximity, and align the implement to the selected interactive target.

A work tool recognition system for a work tool coupled to a machine is provided. The system includes an image capturing assembly configured to capture an image feed of the work tool. A controller is communicably coupled to the image capturing assembly. The controller receives the image feed of the work tool from the image capturing assembly. The controller extracts a plurality of features of the work tool from the image feed. The controller classifies the extracted image and determine a confidence value. The controller estimates a size of the work tool. The controller estimates a position and an orientation of the work tool. The controller determines verification features of the work tool and compares the image feed of the work tool with a predetermined dataset based on the classification. The controller identifies a type of the work tool based on the comparison.

System and method for work tool recognition

A drive system for a mobile machine is disclosed. The drive system includes a power source configured to generate mechanical power, and a transmission driven by the power source, a traction device driven by the transmission. The drive system further includes a first input device configured to generate a signal to operate the machine, a second input device configured to receive an operator selection of one of a plurality of transmission modes, and a controller in communication with the first input device and the transmission. The controller is configured to adjust operation of the transmission to control a speed rate of change of the traction device in response to the signal from the first input device and based on the operator-selected one of the plurality of transmission modes.

Drive system having operator-selectable control modes

A machine includes a plurality of ground engaging elements and an operator control station supported on a frame. A work tool is pivotably attached to the frame using a lift arm assembly and a tilt linkage. At least one device measures a quantity associated with at least one of the lift arm assembly, the tilt linkage, and the work tool. An electronic controller, in communication with an operator display and the at least one device. The electronic controller is configured to store an operator selected orientation of the work tool, calculate a current orientation of the work tool based on the quantity, and calculate a deviation of the current orientation from the operator selected orientation. A visual representation of the deviation is displayed on the operator display.
