A system is disclosed for verifying the operativeness of a crowbar circuit which normally protects an electrical device in a series circuit with a power supply. The crowbar circuit includes means for sensing fault current in the series circuit and a crowbar switch responds to the sensing means for protecting the electrical device by directing the fault current away from the electrical device. The system includes verification testing means including a fuse and actuatable pneumatic switch connected together in series for, when said pneumatic switch is actuated, providing a short circuit across the crowbar switch to verify the operativeness of the crowbar circuit which, if not operative, causes the fault current to flow through and blow out the fuse.

A liquid cooling system cools a plurality of RF power amplifiers utilized in a high power AM broadcast transmitter. Each RF power amplifier includes a thermally conductive block to which the power transistors associated with that amplifier are physically mounted. The heat generated by the power transistors is conductively transferred to the thermally conductive block. A liquid cooled plate comprising a thermal block and coolant pipes running through the thermal block is also provided. The liquid cooled plate is positioned so that the thermal block is in contact with the thermally conductive block of the RF power amplifier. A pump circulates liquid coolant through the coolant pipes. The liquid cooling system cools the power transistors by transferring the heat from the thermally conductive block through the thermal block of the liquid cooled plate to the liquid coolant flowing through the coolant pipes.

Apparatus is presented herein for resiliently clamping at least one semi-conductor device to a support having an upper surface and wherein the semi-conductor device includes a housing having upper and lower spaced-apart relatively flat surfaces interconnected by an upstanding cylindrical wall. A leveller is provided having an upper dome-shaped contact surface and a lower surface having a circular-shaped first recess formed therein. The first recess is shaped and is of sufficient size to receive the upper portion of the housing including the upper surface thereof and a portion of the height of the cylindrical wall while the lower surface of the housing is located on the upper surface of the support. An elongated spring overlies and is resiliently biased toward and engages the dome-shaped contact surface of the leveller. A fastener secures the spring to the support such that the spring exerts a resilient force against the dome-shaped contact surface of the leveller to resiliently clamp the semi-conductor device against the upper surface of the support.
