A method for environmentally managing a computing device of an information handling system includes extracting, using a corrosive material filter, corrosive materials from an airflow that thermally manages a computing component of the computing device. The method further includes, while extracting the corrosive materials, monitoring a corrosion state of the corrosive material filter; making a determination that the corrosive material filter should be replaced based on the corrosion state; and scheduling replacement of the corrosive material filter based on the determination.

In one embodiment, a method for reducing corrosion in an information handling system includes receiving a system setting indicating one or more operation modes; identifying an ambient temperature of the information handling system, the ambient temperature captured by one or more sensors of the information handling system; identifying a humidity level of the information handling system, the humidity level captured by the one or more sensors; identifying a corrosion risk value based on the ambient temperature and the humidity level; determining that the corrosion risk value is greater than a threshold corrosion risk value; and in response to determining that the corrosion risk value is greater than the threshold corrosion risk value: modifying one or more device threshold settings based on the system setting and the corrosion risk value, wherein modifying the one or more device threshold settings causes the ambient temperature to increase and the humidity level to decrease.

Reducing corrosion in an information handling system

A computing device of an information handling system includes an environmental control component and an environmental manager. The environmental control components identifies an aggregate amount of corrosion of a component of the information handling system; obtains a rate of corrosion associated with the component; makes a determination that the rate of corrosion indicates that the component will suffer a premature failure; in response to the determination: identifies an environmental control modification that will remediate the premature failure of the component; and updates an operation of the environmental control component based on the environmental control modification.

The computing device also includes a corrosion management component that is physically connected to the trace. An information handling system includes a computing component that is sensitive to corrosion; and a chassis in which the computing component is disposed. The chassis receives an airflow used to thermally manage the computing component, and expels the airflow after thermally managing the computing component. The information handling system also includes an environmental control component that reduces a condensation formation propensity of a portion of the airflow that traverses the chassis proximate to the computing component.

The present invention may also be used to compensate a voltage regulator that is not outputting the supply voltage required by the computer system. The system includes a processor voltage signal indicative of supply voltage required by one or more components in a computer system during operation, at least one other voltage signal indicative of margined or biased supply voltage for the computer system, and a selection control signal for selecting between the processor voltage signal and the at least one other voltage signal. The processor voltage signal, the at least one other voltage signal, and the selection control signal, are input to a multiplexer. The multiplexer outputs a voltage identification signal to the voltage regulator based on the processor voltage signal, the at least one other voltage signal, and the selection control signal.
