Systems and methods for autonomously operating an antenna assembly. The methods comprise: obtaining, by a processor of the antenna assembly, first information comprising at least one of a value for a variable altitude of the antenna assembly, a value for a variable height of the antenna assembly above ground, a value for a variable height of the antenna assembly above sea level, a value for a variable distance of the antenna assembly from a reference object, and a first value for a variable signal frequency of a communication device; using, by the processor, the information to obtain a desired length of an antenna of the antenna assembly; and controlling, by the processor, an actuator to adjust a length of the antenna until the length reaches the desired length.

Systems and methods for autonomously adjustable aerial vehicle antenna

A communications system may include radio frequency (RF) circuitry, an antenna assembly, and an RF cable coupling the RF circuitry and the antenna assembly. The antenna assembly may include an antenna and RF impedance selection circuitry coupled thereto. The RF circuitry may be configured to communicate RF signals with the antenna via the RF cable, and communicate RF impedance selection signals to the RF impedance selection circuitry via the RF cable and using an alternating pulse width modulation scheme.

Systems and methods for operating an antenna assembly. The methods comprise: receiving, at the first circularly polarized antenna, a first signal comprising a desired signal emitted from a first signal source located at a first altitude higher than a second altitude of the antenna assembly and an interfering signal emitted from a second signal source located at a third altitude lower than the second altitude; receiving the interfering signal at the second circularly polarized antenna (where the first and second circularly polarized antennas are disposed on opposite sides of an antenna reflector and having opposite circular polarizations); generating a second signal by shifting a phase of the interfering signal which was received at the second circularly polarized antenna by an amount to cause the second signal to be out-of-phase with the first signal; and providing an antenna pattern with a null at or below a horizon by destructively combining the second signal with the first signal.

Systems and methods for providing an antenna

Adaptive tunable antenna system includes a first radiating element having an elongated length and a second radiating element extending from a distal end of the first radiating element. The first radiating element is for a high band of operation and the second radiating element is for a low-band of operation. The second radiating element is a helical member including a plurality of turns. A low-band circuit selectively bypasses one or more of the turns of the second radiating element in response to a control signal.

Adaptive tunable antenna

Antenna system includes a base structure and a multiplicity of vertebrae arranged in a stack to define a spine. The spine has an elongated length which extends from a base end to a tip end. A compression applicator is configured to apply an elastic compression force on the stack in a direction along the elongated length from the tip end to the base end. Vertebra interfaces associated with each of the adjacent pairs of the vertebrae are configured to facilitate a variable deviation in an angular alignment of a vertebra axis of each vertebra relative to an adjacent one of the vertebra contained in the stack.

An antenna includes an elongate dielectric strip having opposing first and second sides. A first conductive pattern defines a first radiating element for a first frequency range on the first side of the elongate dielectric strip. A second conductive pattern defines a second radiating element for a second frequency range on the first side of the elongate dielectric strip. The second frequency range is different than the first frequency range. A diplexer circuit is on the elongate dielectric strip between said first and second radiating elements and coupled thereto. A third conductive pattern defines a shared ground plane for the first and second radiating elements on the second side of the elongate dielectric strip.

Antenna system includes first and second quadrifilar radiating elements. A first one of the quadrifilar radiating elements (QRE) is comprised of a plurality of first bifilar helical loops (BHLs). The BHLs are oriented in a mutual orthogonal relationship on a common axis. A second QRE shares a common feed structure with the first QRE. The second QRE comprises a plurality of second BHLs oriented in a mutual orthogonal relationship on the common axis. The first QRE is tuned for operation in a first frequency band, the second QRE is tuned for operation in a second frequency band different from the first frequency band.

A wireless communications device may include an RF transmitter having an operating frequency range, an RF antenna having an electrical length less than or equal to one-tenth of a wavelength of a lowest operating frequency of the operating frequency range, and an RF matching network coupled between the RF transmitter and the RF antenna. The RF matching network may include a first RF matching transformer, a first inductor coupled between a first reference terminal and a reference voltage, a first resistor coupled across a first output terminal and the first reference terminal and configured to dissipate heat that would otherwise be dissipated by the first RF matching transformer to reduce an operating temperature of the first RF matching transformer, and a heat sink coupled to the first resistor.
