In some examples, a cone clutch assembly includes an inner cone member rotationally coupled to a first shaft, the inner cone member defining a first friction surface, and an outer cone member rotationally coupled to a second shaft, the outer cone member defining a second friction surface opposing the first friction surface. The inner cone member and outer cone member are configured to be selectively engage and disengaged from each other. When the inner cone member is engaged with the outer cone member, the first friction surface of the inner cone member frictionally engages the second friction surface of the outer cone member such that rotational motion is transferred between the inner cone member and the outer cone member. The inner surface of the inner cone member opposing the first friction surface includes at least one groove configured to receive a cooling fluid during operation of the cone clutch assembly.

Cone clutch system

In one example, a cone clutch assembly including an inner cone member rotationally coupled to a first shaft, the inner cone member defining a first friction surface; an outer cone member rotationally coupled to a second shaft, the outer cone member defining a second friction surface opposing the first friction surface; and an independent friction member positioned between the inner and the outer cone member. The inner cone member and outer cone member are configured to be selectively engaged and disengaged from each other. When the inner cone member is engaged with the outer cone member, the first friction surface of the inner cone member frictionally engages one surface of the friction member, and the second friction surface of the outer cone member engages another surface of the friction member such that rotational motion is transferred between the inner and outer cone member via the friction member.

Cone clutch system including independent friction member

A system includes an air chamber and an oil capture cavity. The air chamber includes an inlet to receive pressurized air from a gas turbine engine. The oil capture cavity is positioned between the air chamber and an oil sump supplying lubricating oil to the gas turbine engine. The oil capture cavity includes an auxiliary vent formed in a base of the oil capture cavity. A seal may separate the oil capture cavity from fluid communication with the oil sump. A nozzle provides fluid communication between the oil capture cavity and the air chamber. The nozzle is configured and positioned to direct a stream of the pressurized air into the oil capture cavity against an opposite wall of the oil capture cavity to create a quiescent zone at the base of the oil capture cavity. The quiescent zone includes the auxiliary vent.

Sump auxiliary vent system

In examples, a cone clutch assembly includes an inner cone member rotationally coupled to a first shaft, the inner cone member defining a first friction surface; and an outer cone member rotationally coupled to a second shaft, the outer cone member defining a second friction surface opposing the first friction surface. The inner cone member and outer cone member may be selectively engaged and disengaged from another. When the inner cone member is engaged with the outer cone member, the first friction surface of the inner cone member frictionally engages the second friction surface of the outer cone member such that rotational motion is transferred between the inner cone member and the outer cone member. The inner cone member includes at least one hole including an inlet near a front edge of the inner cone member and that extends through the inner cone member adjacent to the first friction surface.

In some examples, a cone clutch assembly includes an inner cone member defining a first friction surface; an outer cone member defining a second friction surface opposing the first friction surface; and an independent friction member positioned between the first friction surface of the inner cone member and the second friction surface of the outer cone member. The inner cone member and outer cone member are configured to be selectively engaged and disengaged from each other. When the inner cone member is engaged with the outer cone member, the first friction surface of the inner cone member frictionally engages a third friction surface of the friction member, and the second friction surface of the outer cone member engages a fourth friction surface of the friction member such that rotational motion is transferred between the inner cone member and the outer cone member via the friction member.

A seal assembly adapted for use with a gas turbine engine includes a runner, a seal, and a compliant holder. The runner extends circumferentially about an axis and the compliant holder. The compliant holder engages the runner and is configured to support the runner radially relative to the axis. The seal extends circumferentially around the runner to block fluid flow through the seal assembly.

Systems and methods are presented for sealing a higher pressure fluid cavity from a lower pressure fluid cavity in a rotating machine. The cavities are at least partially disposed between a rotatable shaft and a housing. The seal assembly comprises a runner mounting assembly, a circumferential ceramic runner, a carbon seal ring, and an annular seal member. The carbon seal ring is sealing engaged with the housing and at least a portion of the runner to thereby form a boundary between the higher pressure fluid cavity and the lower pressure fluid cavity. The annular seal member is coupled to the housing axially displaced from the seal ring in the lower pressure fluid cavity. The seal member has a curvilinear face surface that engages the runner.

Seal assembly with buffered lip seal

A seal assembly is disclosed for sealing a higher pressure fluid cavity from a lower pressure fluid cavity. The seal assembly comprises a ceramic seal runner and a mounting assembly. The ceramic seal runner extends around an axial portion of a shaft. The mounting assembly is affixed to and carries the seal runner in axial and radial alignment with the shaft. The mounting assembly comprises an annular base member, a plurality of flexible members, and an annular sleeve member. The plurality of flexible members are circumferentially spaced about the base member and each extend radially outward from one end affixed to the base member in a direction opposite the direction of rotation of the shaft to a distal end. The annular sleeve member is positioned to engage the distal ends of the flexible members and a radially inner surface of the seal runner.

Mounting assembly for a ceramic seal runner

A seal assembly is disclosed for sealing a higher pressure fluid cavity from a lower pressure fluid cavity. The seal assembly comprises a mounting assembly, a circumferential ceramic runner carried by the mount assembly, and a carbon seal ring sealingly engaged to the runner. The runner comprises an axially-extending sealing portion and a radially-inward-extending step portion. The mounting assembly comprises a retaining member, a forward member, and a middle member. The step portion of the runner is axially retained between the retaining member and the middle member.

An apparatus including a first jaw section having an end, a second jaw section having an end, and a tube section. The first jaw section and the second jaw section may be connected to the tube section so that the first jaw section and the second jaw section oppose each other and pivot with respect to the tube section. The apparatus may be configured so that it can be placed in a first state wherein the end of the first jaw section contacts the end of the second jaw section. The apparatus may be configured so that it can be placed in a second state wherein the end of the second jaw section does not contact the end of the first jaw section. The first and second jaw sections may include a first and second chambers, respectively, into which fingers or a thumb are inserted to pivot the jaw sections.

Method and apparatus for animal waste disposal

An animal waste disposal system, comprising a collection bag having an open end and a closed bottom. A waste removal tool is attached to the closed bottom of the collection bag. The waste removal tool including opposing jaws, with each jaw terminating in a blade portion. The opposing jaws are movable from an open position where the opposing jaws are separated from one another to a closed position where the blade portion of one opposing jaw is in close proximity to the blade portion the other opposing jaw.

Animal waste disposal system

A flexible body cleansing brush with angularly-adaptable head is provided having an elongated, tubular body with a rubber handle positioned at one end, and an applicator/cleansing sponge located at an opposite end. A flexible elastomeric tubular coupler flexibly adjoins a primary arm to an extension arm. The flexible elastomeric coupler allows the extension arm to move pivotally, with unlimited angular relation with respect to the primary arm. The applicator/cleansing sponge is fabricated of a polysulfone/polyurethane conjugate foam which allows the sponge to retain dimensional stability when in contact with a cleansing agent, and is also durable.
