Exemplary embodiments integrate a tee or valve into an outlet end fitting of a liquid chromatography column. The tee or valve is suitable for providing additional fluidic flow paths to ports of the end fitting and eliminates the need for post-column fluidic conduits connecting to tees or valves to insert fluidic inputs or divert flow to outputs. This integration decreases the distance that eluent from the liquid chromatography column has to travel to reach a detector relative to systems that use external tees or valves while providing tee/valve functionality and reducing the fluidic volume post-column. As a result, the exemplary embodiments help decrease sample dispersion.

A clamp assembly includes a rail extending along the length and configured to receive a first fluidic assembly, and a carriage movably attachable to the rail such that the carriage moves along the rail, the carriage configured to receive a second fluidic assembly, the carriage including an actuator and a stop mechanism. The stop mechanism is configured to selectively prevent and allow movement of the carriage relative to the rail. The stop mechanism is configured to be independently operable from the actuator assembly, and the actuator is configured: to move a chromatography column received by the clamp assembly relative to the rail to create a first fluid tight seal between the chromatography column and the first fluidic assembly, and move the second fluidic assembly relative to the carriage body to create a second fluid tight seal between the second fluidic assembly and the chromatography column.

A removable seal device for fluidic coupling includes a seal body extending between a first end and a second end, the seal body including an inner channel configured to receive a flow of a fluid. The first end of the seal body includes a first sealing surface configured to create a first seal with a fitting sealing surface of a receiver fitting, and the seal body includes a second sealing surface configured to create a second seal with an end of a fluidic tube. The removable seal is configured to be removably secured to at least one of the fluidic tube, a support feature fixed to the fluidic tube, and a compression screw, such that untightening of the compression screw from the receiver fitting causes the removable seal device to be removed from the receiver fitting.

A liquid chromatography system includes a solvent delivery system, a sample manager including a sample delivery system in fluidic communication with the solvent delivery system, the sample delivery system configured to inject a sample from a sample-vial into a chromatographic flow stream, a liquid chromatography column located downstream from the sample delivery system, and a detector located downstream from the liquid chromatography column. The sample delivery system further includes a first needle drive including a first sample needle configured to extract the sample from the sample-vial and deliver the sample to the liquid chromatography column, and a first syringe in communication with the first sample needle configured to meter extraction of the sample from the sample-vial. The sample manager further includes a sample automation system that includes a second needle drive including a second sample needle configured to add a volume of reagent to the sample-vial.

Embodiments of the present invention are directed to methods and devices for minimizing band spreading of compositions separated by chromatographic processes. One embodiment of the present invention features a device () for holding a separation column or cartridge. The device () includes a housing () having a chamber for receiving one or more columns or cartridges. The columns and cartridges have an inlet for receiving fluid and an outlet for discharging fluid and a column axis corresponding generally with the flow of fluid from the inlet to the outlet. The columns and cartridges are suitable for performing separations in which a constant temperature is desirable. The housing () further includes a heating element for maintaining said chamber at a constant temperature. The device () further includes positioning means () for placing the column and cartridge outlet in proximity to a detector.

A system and method for restoring the natural water cycle by reducing stormwater runoff and addressing issues affecting groundwater supply. In one embodiment of the invention, the system comprises a roof washer component, cistern component, pump, and manufactured dry well. The system is designed to divert polluted rooftop runoff, capture clean rooftop runoff and store this clean water for irrigation purposes and nonpotable uses, while infiltrating excess water to recharge groundwater supplies thereby replicating the natural hydrologic cycle.

A sealed centrifugal clarifier with a pre-sterilized and disposable container which lines the separation chamber is disclosed. More particularly, the centrifugal clarifier contains a feed port that allows a liquid-solid mixture to be continuously fed into the device wherein the solid is sedimented by rotation of the separation chamber and the clarified liquid is released into an outside receptacle through an effluent port. The throughput rate of the clarifier is adjustable and can be determined as a function of the fill radius of the separation chamber.

One embodiment of the present coupler comprises two or more conduits for transporting fluid. Each of the two or more conduits has at least one end defining an opening in said conduit, and each of the conduits has an axis running parallel to the flow of fluid through said conduit. The coupler further comprises a housing body having a first housing planar surface. The housing body holds the two or more conduits in alignment wherein the axis of each conduit is substantially parallel, and at least one end of each conduit is aligned about said first housing planar surface. And, the coupler has a cap element having a cap planar surface. The cap planar surface is fixed to the first housing planar surface in sealed engagement. At least one of the first housing planar surface and the cap planar surface has a channel in fluid communication with the opening in the conduits. The channel allows two or more fluid streams, each fluid stream defined by one of said conduits, to be placed in communication.

A sample handling mechanism including a direct drive carrier for positioning multiple trays or carousels of sample vials and a direct drive carousel handling mechanism that eliminates pulleys and belts and the problems associated therewith. The carousels handled by the sample handling mechanism are individually identifiable, stackable and include a viewing area for identifying and viewing the individual sample vials grouped in a respective carousel. The sample handling mechanism consists of two logical drive modules. A single center line or axis of rotation is effected in each of the drive modules. The two logical drive modules include a carrier mechanism that transports a plurality of sample carousels to a sampling station, and a carousel drive mechanism which engages a single carousel and presents the appropriate vial to be sampled. The carrier mechanism includes a multi-position spoke-like carrier portion that is driven by a single drive shaft coupled to a gear reduction stepper motor by a coupling. The carousel drive mechanism includes a linear actuator portion and a rotary actuator portion on a common center line or axis. The linear actuator portion effects engagement and disengagement of the rotary actuator portion with a properly positioned carousel, and includes a linear actuator stepper motor with a motor shaft attached to a lift housing. The lift housing holds the rotary actuator portion.

A multicuvette rotor which reduces unacceptable tendencies of reagent or a sample material to spontaneously move or 'wick' from one chamber compartment to the other, resulting in premature conmingling of reactants, and of sample or reagent material to flow out of one or more of the radially outer loading ports during acceleration of the rotor for transfer of the sample or reagent material from inner chambers to corresponding outer chambers.
