A revision connector that is configured to couple a new spine fixation rod to a previously implanted spine fixation rod that is secured to a plurality of vertebrae. The previously implanted spine fixation rod may be received in a first rod receiving channel of the revision connector. The revision connector may include a linkage that is received in a second rod receiving channel of another revision connector. For example, the another revision connector may couple to the new spine fixation rod such that the revision connector is coupled to the new fixation rod. A bone anchor may not directly connect either of the revision connector or the another revision connector to underlying vertebra. Also, the new spine fixation rod can be implanted and secured to vertebra that are caudal and/or cranial with respect to the previously secured vertebrae.

Revision connector for spinal constructs

The present disclosure includes a polyaxial bone fixation element for use in spinal fixation to interconnect a longitudinal spinal rod with a patient's vertebra. The polyaxial bone fixation element preferably includes a bone anchor, a collet, a body, and a locking cap. The polyaxial bone fixation element preferably enables in-situ assembly. That is, the polyaxial bone fixation element is preferably configured so that in use, the bone anchor may be secured to the patient's vertebra prior to being received within the body. Accordingly, the polyaxial bone fixation element enables a surgeon to implant the bone anchor without the body to maximize visibility and access around the anchoring site. Once the bone anchor has been secured to the patient's vertebra, the body can be snapped-onto the bone anchor. The bone anchor preferably also includes a second tool interface so that a surgical instrument can be directly coupled to the bone anchor.

Polyaxial bone fixation element

A revision connector is configured to couple a new spine fixation rod to a previously implanted spine fixation rod that is secured to a plurality of vertebrae. The new spine fixation rod can be implanted and secured to vertebrae that are caudal and/or cranial with respect to the previously secured vertebrae.

A screw guide includes a first end, a second end spaced from the first end, a guide body that extends from the first end to the second end, and a guide hole that extends through the guide body. The guide body includes a first guide surface and a second guide surface, the first guide surface defines a first opening of the guide hole, and the second guide surface is spaced from the first guide surface in a first guide direction. The second guide surface defines a second opening of the guide hole, the guide body includes a leg portion that extends from the second guide surface in the first guide direction such that the leg portion is spaced from the second opening in a second guide direction that is perpendicular to the first guide direction.

Bone plate fastening system

An anchor assembly for use in spinal fixation to interconnect a longitudinal spinal rod, which is integrally formed with a body of the anchor assembly. The anchor assembly includes a bone anchor, a collet, a body portion, a rod portion, and a locking cap. The anchor assembly is preferably configured so that in use, the bone anchor may be secured to the patient's vertebra prior to being received within the body portion. The anchor assembly enables a surgeon to implant the bone anchor without the body portion to maximize visibility and access around the anchoring site. Once the bone anchor has been secured to the patient's vertebra, the rod portion may be inserted into the rod-receiving channel of a second bone fixation element having a rod-receiving channel implanted at a second site and the body portion can be snapped-onto the bone anchor.

Polyaxial bottom-loading screw and rod assembly

A bone anchor () for attaching a rod () to a bone has an anchor member () for attachment to the bone and an anchor head () having a U-shaped opening for receiving the rod. The bone anchor also includes a locking cap () that has a main body () and a set screw (). Advantageously, in one embodiment the locking cap preferably is designed such that a single tool can be used to lock the locking cap in place on the anchor body preferably with a 90&#xb0; turn and preferably then drive the set screw to clamp the rod. The locking cap also preferably non-threadingly engages the anchor body. The anchor body preferably has an inclined surface on its top surface which elastically deflects extending tabs on the main body to secure the locking cap to the anchor body. A method of implantation and assembly of the bone anchor are also described.

Bone anchor with locking cap and method of spinal fixation

An anchor-in-anchor fixation system is provided for securing underlying structure, such as bone. The fixation system includes a first bone anchor having a shaft for fixation to underlying bone, and a head that defines an internal bore. A second bone anchor extends through the bore and into underlying bone. A fixation assembly is also provided that includes one or more fixation systems coupled to an auxiliary attachment member configured for long bone fixation, spinal fixation, or fixation of other bones as desired.
