Multiple approaches such as pressure reduction in the pulmonary circulatory system, reducing triggering mechanisms in the main pulmonary artery and restricting flow in the pulmonary circulatory system are disclosed. Interventions associated with those approaches can including shunting, restrictors, compliance devices, pharmacologic substances, etc.

Devices and methods for retrieving percutaneously implanted catheter systems such as a heart valve repair system. The devices include at least one locking connector at the distal end of a flexible elongated extension for coupling to an implanted tubular member. The locking connector may be a tubular anchor having a pair of distal prongs which are biased outward and face in a proximal direction, as well as an expandable auxetic midsection. Inserting the tubular anchor into the implanted tubular member flexes the distal prongs inward such that they prevent proximal movement of the tubular anchor. A user pulls on the proximal end of the tubular anchor to expand the auxetic midsection and lock the two pieces together. The devices and methods are particularly useful to attach extensions to implanted concentric tubes to enable relative axial force application.

Percutaneous implant retrieval methods

A catheter device includes a shaft having a steerable distal portion and a plurality of layers including a braided layer. A first pull-wire lumen is disposed at least partially within the braided layer, and a second pull-wire lumen is disposed at least partially within the braided layer. A system for delivering medical implants has an expandable introducer sheath which can locally expand and lengthen to accommodate passage of a delivery catheter and implant, such as a prosthetic heart valve secured to a balloon catheter. The expandable sheath may be configured so that the local expansion is proportional to the local surface lengthening.

Several embodiments of a catheter are described, having a balloon configured to slowly inflate and then quickly deflate to create an area of low pressure in the vessels. The balloon can be cycled near the vessels of the kidneys, thereby helping to draw out blood from the kidneys and enhance fluid processing to the bladder.

A delivery apparatus for implanting a prosthetic implant in a native lumen of the body includes a handle portion, and a first shaft extending from and movable relative to the handle portion. The delivery apparatus further includes a second shaft extending from the handle portion and coaxially disposed within the first shaft. The second shaft has a proximal end portion coupled to the handle portion and a distal end portion configured to mount a prosthetic implant in a radially compressed state. The handle portion of the delivery apparatus also includes a steering assembly configured to move the first shaft longitudinally relative to the second shaft while concurrently flexing the second shaft.

Devices and methods for treating patients with functional tricuspid regurgitation (TR) who are unsuitable for surgery include an interoperative, adjustable-size coapting element on a catheter which may be implanted within the left or right side of the heart and extends upward into the vasculature and out of the body. The radial diameter of the coapting element can be modulated in tandem with electrocardiographic imaging to reduce valve regurgitation. One system has an elongated catheter and an expandable coapting element mounted to a distal end with an auxetic structure connected to opposite end caps. A tensioning mechanism controlled from a proximal end of the catheter is configured to pull apart the two end caps and thus elongate and radially expand the auxetic structure. Other forms of the coapting element are disclosed, as well as a kink-resistant catheter sheath having a triangular cross-section.
