A system includes one or more computing devices that encode spatial perceptual cues into a monaural channel to generate a plurality of output channels. A computing device determines a target amplitude response for the mid and side channels of the plurality of output channels, defining a spatial perceptual associated with one or more frequency-dependent phase shifts. The computing device determines a transfer function of a single-input, multi-output allpass filter based on the target amplitude response and determines coefficients of the allpass filter based on the transfer function, and processes the monaural channel with the coefficients of the allpass filter to generate the plurality of channels having the encoded spatial perceptual cues. The allpass filter is configured to be colorless with respect to the individual output channels, allowing for the placement of spatial cues into the audio stream to be decoupled from the overall coloration of the audio.

Colorless generation of elevation perceptual cues using all-pass filter networks

A system includes one or more computing devices that decorrelates a monaural channel into a plurality of output channels. A computing device determines a target amplitude response defining one or more constraints on a summation of the plurality of channels. The target amplitude response is defined by relationships between amplitude values of the summation and frequency values of the summation. The computing device determines a transfer function of a single-input, multi-output all pass filter based on the target amplitude response and determines coefficients of the allpass filter based on the transfer function. The computing devices processes the monaural channel with the coefficients of the allpass filter to generate the plurality of channels.

All-pass network system for colorless decorrelation with constraints

A device renders enhanced audio based on properties of an audio rendering system. For example, audio rendering system information of an audio rendering system associated with the device is used to determine an audio enhancement optimized for the audio rendering system. The OS of the device (e.g., a mobile phone) is queried to determine the audio rendering system information. The audio rendering system information is used to determine an audio enhancement, such as by querying a database storing associations between rendering system information and audio enhancements. The audio enhancement may include, for example, one or more types of audio processing (e.g., subband spatial processing, crosstalk processing, etc.) and particular parameters for the audio processing. The audio enhancement is applied to an audio signal to generate an enhanced audio signal that is provided to the audio rendering system.

Dynamic rendering device metadata-informed audio enhancement system

A system provides for psychoacoustic frequency range extension. The system generates quadrature components from an audio channel, and generates rotated spectral quadrature components by applying a forward transformation that rotates a spectrum of the quadrature components from a standard basis to a rotated basis. In the rotated basis, the system isolates components of the rotated spectral quadrature components at target frequencies, and generates weighted phase-coherent harmonic spectral quadrature components by applying a nonlinearity to the isolated components having a dependence on scale that is subject to constraints. The circuitry generates a harmonic spectral component by applying an inverse transformation that rotates a spectrum of the weighted phase-coherent harmonic spectral quadrature components from the rotated basis to the standard basis. The circuitry combines the harmonic spectral component with frequencies of the audio channel outside of the target frequencies to generate an output channel, and provides the output channel to a speaker.

Adaptive filterbanks using scale-dependent nonlinearity for psychoacoustic frequency range extension

A system includes a circuitry that provides for psychoacoustic frequency range extension for a speaker. The circuitry generates quadrature components from an audio channel, and generates rotated spectral quadrature components by applying a forward transformation that rotates a spectrum of the quadrature components from a standard basis to a rotated basis. In the rotated basis, the circuitry isolates components of the rotated spectral quadrature components at target frequencies, and generates weighted phase-coherent harmonic spectral quadrature components by applying a scale-independent nonlinearity to the isolated components. The circuitry generates a harmonic spectral component by applying an inverse transformation that rotates a spectrum of the weighted phase-coherent harmonic spectral quadrature components from the rotated basis to the standard basis.
