Systems and methods for managing refresh rates of applications running on a display device are disclosed. A computing device is designed to monitor and slow/reduce refresh rates for some applications running on the display device, while also allowing other applications to run at a fast/increased refresh rate. Each application is associated with a target device (e.g., server). The computing device can regulate a continuous stream of data, allowing some applications to access the data, while limiting/preventing other applications from accessing the data. The applications with access to the data can run at the fast refresh rates, while the remaining applications update at the slow refresh rates. As a result, the applications running at the fast refresh rates allow a user viewing the display device to actively monitor the respective servers associated with the fast-running applications, while reducing network load based on the relatively slow-running applications.

Systems and methods for managing application refresh rates presented on a display

A system and method for transferring host data from a host server to a user device during a KVM session, using an HTML5 KVM/virtual media client running in a Web browser of a user device, is disclosed. The user device may run a Web browser that allows the user to select an image file which then appears as a new drive letter (e.g., a virtual drive) on the server system to be managed. The system and method bypass the inability of the read-only virtual drives to transfer files back to the HTML client of the user device by modifying the original files received from the user device, which are packaged and sent back to the user device via the persistent sandbox. In this manner, important log files and other data files generated from the host server may be received by the user device via a user-friendly Web browser.

Writeback to a virtual media mapped image in HTML5

A system and method is disclosed for creating and exposing virtual disk images to a host server, during a KVM session, using an HTML5 KVM/virtual media client running in a Chrome&#x2122; Web browser of a user's device (e.g., PC workstation). The host server is able to select all or specific portions of the virtual disk image for use, whereupon the bytes representing the selected data content are packaged by the HTML5 KVM/virtual media client using a persistent sandbox and transmitted to the host server. Using the HTML5 KVM/virtual media client to create and expose virtual disk images from the persistent sandbox of the Chrome&#x2122; Web Browser eliminates the problem of the Web browser not being able to directly access physical media (e.g., disks) on the user's device, and further significantly reduces data size limitations on the size of the virtual disk images that may be created.

System and method for creating virtual disk images for use with remote computer

A method is disclosed for providing compressed video to a personal electronic device of a user using one of a plurality of different video compression protocols, and wherein the personal electronic device has a web browser. The method may involve using the personal electronic device to transmit a request for video content from a server via a remotely located controller. The controller may be used to serve up HTML5 client code to the browser. The browser may use the HTML5 client code to create a web socket connection with the server and to establish a web socket in the browser. The HTML5 client code, the web socket connection and the web socket may be used to receive the compressed video, and the HTML5 client code may be used to decompress the compressed video for display on the personal electronic device.

System and method for single KVM client accommodating multiple different video compression technologies

A method is disclosed for exposing virtual disk images on a user device, which is running an HTML5 KVM virtual media client in a Web browser, and which has established a KVM session with a KVM device associated with a remote device. A selected disk image file is initially obtained by the user device and a message sent to the remote device that the disk image file is available for use. The HTML5 KVM virtual media client exposes the disk image file for use to the remote device, which sends a message to the HTML5 KVM virtual media client requesting a specific portion of the disk image file. The HTML5 KVM virtual media client receives the message and a script engine running in the Web browser creates a new file available to the Web browser of just the portion requested by the remote device, which is then transmitted to the remote device.
