A loudspeaker includes an acoustic diaphragm, an oscillatory force source, a lever coupling the oscillatory force source to the acoustic diaphragm, and a pivot coupled to the lever such that the lever moves in an arcuate path about the pivot when the oscillatory force source applies a force to the lever. The pivot includes at least one torsion bushing. The at least one torsion bushing includes a first member, a second member coupled to the lever and movable relative to the first member, and an elastomeric member coupling the first member to the second member. Either the first member or the second member is coupled to and moves with the lever. An outer surface of the elastomeric member is coupled to the second member via mechanical compression.

An acoustic device with an enclosure and a first passive radiator structure which includes a first passive radiator diaphragm. The first passive radiator structure has an effective radiating area and a first mass, and is mounted to the enclosure such that its diaphragm can vibrate relative to the enclosure. There is a second passive radiator structure which includes a second passive radiator diaphragm. The second passive radiator structure has substantially the same effective radiating area as the first passive radiator structure, and is mounted to the enclosure such that its diaphragm can vibrate relative to the enclosure. At least one active electro-acoustic transducer is mounted to the second passive radiator structure such that it moves when the diaphragm vibrates. The second passive radiator structure and the active transducer together have a second mass that is substantially greater than the mass of the first passive radiator structure. Passive radiators with the same effective radiating area results in force balancing of the device.

A magnet carrier for a moving magnet actuator. The magnet carrier includes a single longitudinal beam extending in the direction of intended motion of magnet carrier and two pairs of transverse ribs, extending from opposite sides of the longitudinal beam. The longitudinal beam and the two pairs of transverse ribs are arranged to engage a pair of substantially planar magnets. The single longitudinal beam and the two pairs of transverse ribs each comprise a lip for engaging a chamfered edge of a pair of substantially planar magnets so that the lip opposes motion of the magnets in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the magnets. The longitudinal beam and the transverse ribs are adhered to the magnets by an adhesive with an elastic modulus of less than 5 MPa and a tensile strain of greater than 100%.

A loudspeaker including a moving magnet motor. The moving magnet motor includes an armature comprising a magnet carrier, and a lever arm, coupling the armature and a pivot. The lever arm further couples the armature and an acoustic diaphragm to transmit motion of the armature to the acoustic diaphragm to cause the acoustic diaphragm to move. The loudspeaker described may be torque balance and moment balanced.
