A tensioning device includes a pair of opposing first surfaces defining a first wedge opening. The first surfaces are fixed relative to each other. The first wedge opening is shaped to releasably secure a first portion of a cord. A pair of opposing second surfaces defines a second wedge opening. The second surfaces are fixed relative to each other. The second wedge opening is spaced apart from the first wedge opening. The second wedge opening is shaped to releasably secure a second portion of the cord. A cord block defines a support surface spaced from the first and second wedge openings. The support surface is positioned to slidably support the cord between the first and second wedge openings.

Tensioning device

A tie-down and tensioning device including: a device body; an attachment member connected to the device body, the attachment member including an attachment opening; a cord block comprising a cord block hook connected to the device body, and a cord support surface disposed between the cord block hook and the device body; and a cord gripper attached to the device body, the cord gripper comprising a cord gripper hook connected to the device body, the interior surface of the cord gripper hook and the surface of the device body opposing the interior surface of the cord gripper hook defining a wedge-shaped opening, and a cord gripping surface formed on one of the interior surface of the cord gripper hook and the opposing surface of the device body.

Tie-down and tensioning system

A magnetic connector includes first and second connector parts, each having a respective magnet. The second connector part includes an overhanging lip positioned on one side of the respective magnet and a cord loop positioned on the opposite side of the respective magnet. The first and second magnets are oriented to automatically hold the first and second connector parts together, with the first connector part disposed in a first position between the overhanging lip and the cord loop. The overhanging lip is positioned such that a tensile force applied to the first connector part and resisted by the cord loop translates the first connector part from the first position to a second position, in which the first magnet is closer to the overhanging lip and the first connector part is at least partially received under the overhanging lip, thereby mechanically interlocking the first and second connector parts.

A tool-carrying assembly to be secured by a waist-encircling belt, and, additionally, by straps encircling the legs of a workman using the belt assembly. The assembly is thus stabilized, and enhanced weight distribution is achieved. Elements of the belt assembly include a waist-encircling band supporting a pair of laterally spaced, depending panels each carrying tool-accepting pockets. The pockets preferably carry visual markings and coding as well as other indicia identifying clearly the specific tools to be &ldquo;housed&rdquo; or carried in and to be returned to each pocket after use. Inventory control of the tools is thereby significantly enhanced. Pivotal flaps depending from the band-carried panels serve to cover the tools when not in use, and to prevent the tools from scratching or otherwise marring any article, or fixture, or &ldquo;workpiece&rdquo; requiring the workman's attention. The panels and the tools carried thereby are disposed in lateral, spaced zones at the wearer's sides (and not directly in the front of one's body) thus further to reduce any likelihood of the tools coming into damaging physical contact with an article being worked upon. That is, both frontal and rearwardly located zones about the wearer of the tool belt assembly are rendered essentially free and clear of all tools and other mechanical impediments. While wearing the tool assembly of the invention, a worker can, without any discomfort, lie upon and use a &ldquo;creeper&rdquo;. Significantly, a frontal sector of the belt itself is covered with a relatively soft, non-marring protective pad, composition, or surface material effective to prevent possible damage from a workman's belt buckle. An additional feature of the invention is that the panels may be structured to constitute a core sandwiched between a pair of encasing sheet-like webs. The resulting composite is readily formable to provide selectable visual patterns, designs or indicia, for example, to identify product name or sources and/or to constitute decorations.

Belt assembly for storage and inventory of tools

Disclosed is a ratchet wrench having a drive head and a handle, the latter defining an elongate body. The body of the wrench is formed with a series of through cavities which are sized in steps for releasibly holding a series of correspondingly sized sockets. The sockets are retained in place frictionally by means of elastomeric inserts carried by and positioned to project inwardly of exposed annular side walls which define the cavities. Conveniently, the stored sockets may be forcibly expelled from the cavities in either of two opposed axial directions. For ready visual identification, markings are provided on the body of the wrench indicating the specific size of each socket-receiving cavity. The described features of the ratchet wrench also enable one quickly to verify the socket size, and allow socket placement over a fastener without requiring that the socket itself be first removed from the tool handle.

A pipe clamp includes a clamp body which supports a screw. A jaw is mounted at one end of the screw and an actuator is used to advance the screw with respect to the clamp body in order to clamp or spread a workpiece with respect to a workpiece-engaging element. The clamp body is movable along the length of the pipe, and the screw is inclined with respect to the pipe to increase clearance for the actuator.

A chalk line reel includes an opening in the housing that permits access to a powdered chalk storage area. A movable door is mounted on the housing, and the door is movable to a closed position in which the door obstructs the opening. A first element on the door releasably couples the chalk line clip to the door, and a second element on the housing releasably couples the chalk line clip to the housing. The first and second elements are positioned such that clip resists movement of the door away from the closed position when the clip is coupled to the first and second elements.

A locking pliers includes first and second handles. The first handle includes two spaced, parallel plates and a jaw received therebetween. The plates and at least a portion of the jaw are surrounded by a molded plastic element that defines the hand engaging surface of a handle. A similar construction can be used for the second handle. The plates provide rigidity to the handle, while the molded plastic element provides an ergonomically shaped hand engaging surface. The disclosed handles can be adapted for use in other hand tools, including pliers, wire cutters, snips, and the like.
